艺术与社会的双重关系——西方马克思主义美学理论的现代意义

摘      要：Regarding the relevance of Marxist aesthetics to the constructing of a harmonious society in China today, we need to reconsider the possible interactions between art and society against the status quo of social context and culture industry. Such interactions tend to feature a dilemma in which both the autonomy and sociality of art are involved, turning out to be a kind of contradictive but dynamic tension. All this seems conducive to the value or end of art in an ontological sense. With a particular reference to ***’s negative dialectics, this paper looks into the relationship between art and society in view of ontology, epistemology, aesthetic psychology, aesthetic culture and sociology respectively. It argues that the role of art in contemporary society can be significantly affective and cognitive so long as artworks are able to perform such virtues as critical spirit, truth content and aesthetic shudder in an artistically subtle and expressive mode.
