摘      要：Ernest Hemingway is famous for his ＂mastery of the art of modern narration＂. This paper adopts his writing theory-＂iceberg principle＂ and techniques of writing, especially brief repetitions and vague symbols to analyze his short story Cat in the Rain for the purpose of revealing the theme behind the plot.
