Aspects of Realism in Visual and Verbal Representations

摘      要：In this article,the author reads three literary texts—Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice,Harold Pinter’s The Birthday Party,and Edith Wharton’s The Age of Innocence,in order to theorise two aspects of realism in terms of visual and verbal *** first aspect of realism would be through physical events and *** second one is through the thinking process of a *** essential point of using realism to read a text is not to see how real the description of a figure or an object ***,as the author would argue,realism is to be understood as the way in which life is true to a character’s condition.
