These recrea.ions symbolize not only a.privileged visua. interpreta.ion of a.na.ion, but they a.so a.low us to exa.ine how a.given society reflects itself through the fiction. In this sense, the objective of this pa.er is to reflect upon the Portuguese upda.ed filmic a.a.ta.ion of The Crime of Fa.her a.a.o (1880) by the ca.onica. a.thor E?a.de Queiroz.
