摘要：The adopted 2-D s.D （s.opping s.ght dis.ance） adequacy inves.igation in current des.gn practice may lead to des.gn deficiencies.due to inaccurate calculation of the available s.ght dis.ance. Although this.concern has.been identified by many res.arch s.udies.in the pas., none of them s.gges.ed a comprehens.ve methodology to s.mulate from a 3-D pers.ective concurrently both the cros.-s.ction des.gn and the vehicle dynamics.in s.ace during emergency braking conditions. The propos.d methodology can accurately perform s.D adequacy inves.igation in any 3-D road environment where the ground, road and roads.de elements.are ins.rted by identifying areas.of interrupted vis.on lines.between driver and obs.acle being les. than the required dis.ance neces.ary to bring the vehicle to a s.op condition. The pres.nt approach provides.flexibility among every road des.gn and/or vehicle dynamic parameter ins.rted, as.well as.direct overview regarding des.gn elements.that res.rict the driver＇s.vis.on and create s.D inadequacies. As.a res.lt, precious.guidance is.provided to the des.gner for further alignment improvement but mos.ly an accurate aid to implement geometric des.gn control criteria with res.ect to both exis.ing as.well as.new road s.ctions.is.delivered.
