摘要：The main aim of this paper is to investigate the properties of Cu-TaC electrodes produced by Powder Metallurgy （PM） method. The design of Experiment （DOE） method was used to plan the investigation. Two different compositions of the powders （Cu-TaC with 30 and 55 % wt TaC） were used. The major properties which determine suitability of electrodes for Electro Discharge Machining （EDM） are electrical conductivity, therrnal conductivity and to some extent density. These properties were measured for the green compacted electrodes, analyzed and compared with their sintered counterparts. This is the initial stage to determine the suitability or otherwise of the compacted electrodes. The results showed that the compacted electrodes in green form can be suitable for EDM, since the electrical conductivities are very high （94.96-189.92Ω^-1m^-1）. The thermal conductivity is good （29.70-33.20W/m K）. The density ranges between 6.13 and 9.80 g/cm3. The sintered electrodes were found to be unsuitable at the specified conditions, because they became non-conductive electrically after sintering. Current efforts are geared towards improving these properties for the sintered ones and also determining their optimum levels.

摘要：Automatically mapping a requirement specification to design model in Software Engineering is an open complex problem. Existing methods use a complex manual process that use the knowledge from the requirement specification/modeling and the design, and try to find a good match between them. The key task done by designers is to convert a natural language based requirement specification (or corresponding UML based representation) into a predominantly computer language based design model—thus the process is very complex as there is a very large gap between our natural language and computer language. Moreover, this is not just a simple language conversion, but rather a complex knowledge conversion that can lead to meaningful design implementation. In this paper, we describe an automated method to map Requirement Model to Design Model and thus automate/partially automate the Structured Design (SD) process. We believe, this is the first logical step in mapping a more complex requirement specification to design model. We call it IRTDM (Intelligent Agent based requirement model to design model mapping). The main theme of IRTDM is to use some AI (Artificial Intelligence) based algorithms, semantic representation using Ontology or Predicate Logic, design structures using some well known design framework and Machine Learning algorithms for learning over time. Semantics help convert natural language based requirement specification (and associated UML representation) into high level design model followed by mapping to design structures. AI method can also be used to convert high level design structures into lower level design which then can be refined further by some manual and/or semi automated process. We emphasize that automation is one of the key ways to minimize the software cost, and is very important for all, especially, for the “Design for the Bottom 90% People” or BOP (Base of the Pyramid People).

摘要：The quality factor of class diagram is critical because it has significant influence on overall quality of the product, delivered finally. Testability has been recognized as a key factor to software quality. Estimating testability at design stage is a criterion of crucial significance for software designers to make the design more testable. Taking view of this fact, this paper identifies testability factors namely effectiveness and reusability and establishes the correlation among testability, effectiveness and reusability and justifies the correlation with the help of statistical measures. Moreover study developed metric based testability estimation model and developed model has been validated using experimental test. Subsequently, research integrates the empirical validation of the developed model for high level acceptance. Finally a hypothesis test performs by the two standards to test the significance of correlation.

摘要：In the present study to produce a typical hip joint, Investment casting has been selected as casting method since this process can give optimum properties of the product having complex geometry with biocompatible material. In order to perform this casting, a die or mould is needed to fabricate wax pattern, which will be used to make ceramic investment for the hip joint. Thus, this study includes the modification of design together with fabrication of a typical hip joint casting dies with acrylic. Throughout the project, modulus of casting and riser has been calculated and accommodated with the main hip joint die design. The hip-bone joint design has been generated using CATIA V5 software before it is converted into numerical control (NC) codes to machine the two acrylic slabs of the acrylic dies using Vertical Machining Center (VMC). Thus, the acrylic dies for hip bone joint are now ready for making wax pattern intended to produce ceramic investment for casting the required joint with biocompatible material.

Testability analysis, when done early in the software creation process, is a criterion of critical importance to software quality. Reusability is an important quality factor to testability. Its early measurement in object oriented software especially at design phase, allows a design to be reapplied to a new problem without much extra effort. This research paper proposes a research framework for quantification process and does an extensive review on reusability of object oriented software. A metrics based model “Reusability Quantification of Object Oriented Design” has been proposed by establishing the relationship among design properties and reusability and justifying the correlation with the help of statistical measures. Also, “Reusability Quantification Model” is empirically validated and contextual significance of the study shows the high correlation for model acceptance. This research paper facilitates to software developers and designer, the inclusion of reusability quantification model to access and quantify software reusability for quality product.

摘要：A very compact (80 - 100 μm2) integrated power splitting devices with two outputs (1 × 2), four outputs (1 × 4) and six outputs (1 × 6) channel has been designed, simulated and optimized for Telecommunication purpose with T-Junction, Y-Junction, PC line defect waveguides integrated with multimode interference block (PCLD-MMI) and multiple line defect PC waveguides (MLDPCW) configurations. The optical modeling of these proposed structures was investigated by finite difference time domain (FDTD) simulation. With the optimization of the parameters (Hole Radius, R = 0.128 μm, Input Diameter, D = 1.02 μm, Input wavelength, λ = 1.55 μm, Substrate Reflective Index, nsub = Si(1.52), Photonic Crystal Material, npcs = InAs(3.45), and Rectangular crystal structure), 1 × 2 for Y-Junction (100%), 1 × 4 for T-Junction (92.8%) and 1 × 6 configuration for MLDPCW (81%) show maximum power transmission.

摘要：The present work focus on the thermal performance of a horizontal concentric heat exchanger, which is numerically investigated to evaluate the heat transfer enhancement process by adding fins with different configurations. As a part of this investigation, the melting process is simulated from the onset of phase change to the offset involving physics of natural convection in PCM fluid pool. The investigation is carried out by ANSYS Fluent code, which is an efficient numerical analysis tool for investigating fluid flow and convective heat transfer phenomena during PCM melting process. The attention is mainly focused on the extension of contact area between the PCM body and cylindrical capsule to enhance heat transfer rates to PCM bodies during the melting process by employing longitudinal fins in the enclosed capsule. Two commercial PCMs: RT50 and C58, are introduced in a 2D cylindrical pipe with their thermo-physical properties as input for modelling. The selected modelling approach is validated against experimental result with respect to the total enthalpy changes that qualify our model to run in the proceeding calculation. It is ensured that an isothermal boundary condition (373 K) is applied to the inner pipe throughout the series of simulation cases and the corresponding Rayleigh number (Ra) ranges from 104 - 105 and Prandtl number (Pr) 0.05 - 0.07. Finally, parametric study is carried out to evaluate the effect of length, thickness and number of longitudinal fins on the thermal performance of PCM-LHTES (Latent Heat Thermal Energy Storage) system associated with the physics of natural convection process during PCM melting.
