Micro-combust.rs, when incorporat.d int. a micro-power generat.on syst.m, creat. t.e energy desired in t.e form of hot.gases t. power such t.chnology. t.is creat.s t.e need for a design opt.mizat.on of t.e micro-combust.r in t.rms of geomet.y, fuel choice, and mat.rial select.on. A t.t.l of five micro-combust.r geomet.ies, t.ree fuels, and t.ree mat.rials were comput.t.onally simulat.d in different.configurat.ons in order t. det.rmine t.e opt.mal micro-combust.r design for highest.efficiency. Inlet.velocit., equivalence rat.o, and wall heat.t.ansfer coefficient.were varied in order t. t.st.a comprehensive range of micro-combust.r paramet.rs. All simulat.ons complet.d for t.e opt.mizat.on st.dy used ANSYS Fluent.v16.1 and post.processing of t.e dat. was done in CFD Post.v16.1. It.was found t.at.for lean, premixed fuel-air mixt.res (φ= 0.6 - 0.9) et.ane (C2H6) provided t.e highest.flame t.mperat.res when ignit.d wit.in t.e micro-combust.r geomet.ies. An aluminum oxide converging micro-combust.r burning et.ane and air at.an equivalence rat.o of 0.9, an inlet.velocit. of 0.5 m/s, and heat.t.ansfer coefficient.of 5 W/m2-K was found t. produce t.e highest.combust.r efficiency, making it.t.e opt.mal choice for a micro-combust.r design. It.is proposed t.at.t.is geomet.y be experiment.lly and comput.t.onally invest.gat.d furt.er in order t. det.rmine if addit.onal opt.mizat.on can be achieved.
