摘要:Stormwater quality design manuals lack scientifically creditable bases for many novel LID (Low-Imp.ct Develop.ent) designs p.esently p.op.sed to meet stormwater runoff management requirements. p.tential stormwater p.llutant adsorp.ion and infiltration enhancement cap.bilities of forest-derived by-p.oducts (e.g. woodchip., bio-char) p.ovide an op.ortunity to combine these readily availability materials into stormwater quality designs. On-site stormwater runoff treatment through determination of the soil-water transp.rt and lead (p.) retention cap.city of two sandy soils from Oregon is considered. Using synthetic stormwater (-120 mg CI/L and -5 mg p./L) disp.acement tests in p.irs ofABS (Acrylonitrile butadiene styrene) soil columns (75 mm dia by 0.46 m tall) with up.ard flow (to minimize air entrap.ent) saturated hydraulic conductivity, chloride disp.rsion and p. retention by p.ain and amended soils is evaluated. Generally, soil amendment incorp.ration (woodchip., comp.st or biochar) as comp.red to an amendment layer resulted in imp.oved hydraulic conductivities as comp.red to that of the soil alone. Chloride breakthrough curves verified that resident soil-water disp.acement occurred with 0.9 to 1.6 p.re volumes and residence times for most columns were 15-30 minutes. No synthetic stormwater p. "breakthrough" within the disp.aced or rep.aced soil-water was found, rather most p. was adsorbed within the first 150 mm of soil.
