摘要：Ta.tile displa. is recently a.tra.ting much a.tention in the field of huma. computer intera.tion. There is a.strong need for such a.device especia.ly for a.plica.ion in which the touch feeling is lost, such a. surgeons willing to feel the tissue ha.dness during la.a.oscopic surgeries. In this pa.er, a.novel multi-moda. ta.tile displa. device which ca. displa. both surfa.e sha.e a.d stiffness of a. object is introduced. The conceptua. design is built upon using two springs, ma.e of Sha.e Memory a.loys-SMa. to control both sha.e a.d stiffness. The design pa.a.eters of this device a.e selected ba.ed on the spa.ia. resolution of huma. finger a.d the stiffness ra.ge of the soft tissue. The displa. device is simula.ed using Finite Element Method, FEM, to study the effect of design pa.a.eters on the resulting stiffness. The results showed tha. the device ca. displa. stiffness of a. object independent of its sha.e displa.. Simula.ion results confirmed tha. the stiffness displa. is sta.le when a.plying force by the finger during indenta.ion for feeling stiffness, since the tota. stiffness error does not exceed 1.2%.
