摘要：This p.p.r firstly reviews the recent develop.ent in p.wer system p.otection and control, with sp.cial attention p.id to the wide-area and integrated p.otection, in order to look into future develop.ent of integration of p.otection and control for smart grids. This p.p.r mainly rep.rts on the develop.ent of integrated wide area p.otection and control for p.wer systems. The concep. of integrated wide area p.otection and control is introduced, in which a hierarchical p.otection and control system p.ovides the p.otection and control of wide area or regional p.wer substations/ p.ants and their associated p.wer network. The system is mainly divided into three levels, the local, the substation/p.ant and the wide area/regional p.otection and control. The integrated functions at each level are described in details with an aim to develop.an op.imal coordination mechanism between the levels. One of the core elements in the system is the synchronised wide area communication network between the substations and the p.otection and control system, in which latest communication technology is emp.oyed. Another imp.rtant p.ayer in the system is the wide area synchronized p.otection and control information p.atform, which not only enables the fusion three line of defence for p.wer system p.otection and control, but also p.ovides a p.rfect tool for the ap.lication of cloud comp.ting to substations and p.wer networks.
