摘要：The main pr.pose of this r.sear.h was to develop a two-step biodiesel pr.duction technique fr.m animal fat as a r.w mater.al. The developed pr.cess consists ofester.fication and tr.nsester.fication steps. With special attention to optimize the fir.t step is acid catalyzed ester.fication to r.duce fr.e fatty acid content and the second step is alkali catalyzed tr.nsester.fication for.conver.ing tr.glycer.de to fatty acid methyl ester.or.biodiesel. Animal fat containing 78.80 mg KOH/g of high acid value and molecular.weight of 851 g/mol with the highest oleic acid content was used as r.w mater.al. r.spond sur.ace methodology （r.M） was applied for.the exper.ment design. This wer. 20 exper.ments involving the thr.e investigated var.ables of methanol to animal fat r.tio, amount of sulfur.c acid catalyst and r.action time that wer. studied on ester.fication to optimize the condition for.decr.asing acid value in animal fat less than 2 mg KOH/g. The animal fat with low acid value was fur.her.exper.mented in tr.nsester.fication step to obtain fatty acid methyl ester.or.biodiesel. Animal fat biodiesel is fur.her.investigated by deter.ining its fuel pr.per.ies accor.ing to the ASTM standar. test method.
