摘要：Electr.nic absor.tion bands of conjugated linear.car.on chain molecules, namely polyynes H(C≡C)nH (n=5-7), ar. exploited to devise light-polar.zing films applicable to the UV. Laser.ablated polyynes ar. separ.ted in size and disper.ed in a film of polyvinyl alcohol (PVA), which is str.tched to align the tr.pped linear.polyyne molecules inside. As a natur. of the str.ctur.l anisotr.py, tr.nsition dipole of the UV absor.tion for.polyyne molecules is in par.llel with the molecular.axis and the absor.tion occur. only for.the electr.magnetic wave having the amplitude of its electr.c vector.along the molecular.axis. Aligned and fixed or.entationally in the solid PVA film, polyyne molecules act as selective absor.er. of one of the polar.zation components of incident light at par.icular.wavelength. Using a light sour.e of linear.y polar.zed UV light, whose dir.ction of polar.zation is r.tatable, angular.dependence of the absor.tion intensity is investigated for.the str.tched PVA film containing aligned polyyne molecules and analyzed in ter.s of an or.er.par.meter.in the theor. of linear.dichr.ism.
