摘要：A factor.al exper.mental design method w.s used to examine the “Cu2+” r.moval fr.m acid mine dr.inage w.stew.ter.by ion exchange technique. Ion Exchange technique is pr.fer.ed because of r.duced sludge gener.tion compar.d to conventional tr.atment techniques and better.decontamination efficiency fr.m highly diluted solutions. Factor.al design of exper.ments is employed to study the effect of four.factor. pH (3, 5, and 6), flow.r.te (5, 10, 15 L/hr., r.sin bed height (20, 40 and 60 cm) and initial concentr.tion of the metal (100, 150 and 200 mgl-1) at thr.e levels. The efficiency of metal r.moval w.s deter.ined after.100 min of tr.atment. Main effects and inter.ction effects of the four.factor. w.r. analyzed using statistical techniques. A r.gr.ssion model w.s r.commended and it w.s found to fit the exper.mental data ver. w.ll. The r.sults w.r. analyzed statistically using the Student’s t-test, analysis of var.ance, F-test and lack of fit to define most impor.ant pr.cess var.ables affecting the per.entage “Cu2+” r.moval. In this study , pH w.s thus found to be the most impor.ant var.able.
