摘要：In this paper a simplified approach to optimize the design of Shell Tu.e Heat Exchanger [STHE] by flow indu.ed vibration analysis [FVA] is presented. The vibration analysis of STHE helps in achieving optimization in design by prevention of tu.e failu.e cau.ed du. to flow indu.ed vibration. The main reason for tu.e failu.e du. to flow indu.ed vibration is increased size of STHE. It is fou.d that in case of increased size of STHE, the su.face area and nu.ber of tu.es increases, thu. the u.derstanding and analysis of vibration becomes a very difficu.t task. Again it is fou.d that flow indu.ed vibration analysis is considered as an integral part of mechanical & thermal design of STHE. The detailed design, fabrication, testing and analysis work was carried ou. at Alfa Laval (India), Ltd., Pu.e-10.
