摘要：Constructing an information storage or communication system, where countless pieces of information canbe hidden like a canvas and revealed on demand throughspecific stimuli or decoding rules, is significant. In the presentstudy, we developed a hydrogel canvas that leverages noncovalentinteractions to induce phase separation in the polymer matrix, creating various “paintings”, including custommessages, using different chemical inks. Our strategy focuseson designing small molecule inks, with varying affinities withthe hydrogel and specific responsiveness to stimuli, to achievemultiple changes such as color shifts, fluorescence emission,and dynamic optical image evolution. This skips the typicaldesign approaches, such as incorporating responsive fluorophoresinto polymers for color emission through grafting orcopolymerization, and thus avoids the complex processes involved in modifying and synthesizing functional polymers,along with the uncertainties in material properties that theseprocesses bring.

摘要：In this paper, an ‘in-house＇ genetic algorithm is described and applied to an optimization problem for improving the aerodynamic performances of an aircraft wing tip through upper surface morphing. The algorithm＇s performances were studied from the convergence point of view, in accordance with design conditions. The algorithm was compared to two other optimization methods,namely the artificial bee colony and a gradient method, for two optimization objectives, and the results of the optimizations with each of the three methods were plotted on response surfaces obtained with the Monte Carlo method, to show that they were situated in the global optimum region. The optimization results for 16 wind tunnel test cases and 2 objective functions were presented. The 16 cases used for the optimizations were included in the experimental test plan for the morphing wing-tip demonstrator, and the results obtained using the displacements given by the optimizations were evaluated.

摘要：An attitude and heading reference system (AHRS) is a nonlinear state estimator unit for computing orientation in 3D space. This paper designs an AH RS using three approaches: an in variant observer, an invaria nt exte nded Kalman filter (IEKF), and a conventional extended Kalman filter (EKF). The three designs are validated in experiment versus a ground truth, dem on strati ng the practical interest of the invariant observer methodology and the advantage of the IEKF over the EKF under model uncertainty.

摘要：Newmark design spectra have been implemented in many building codes, especially in building codes for critical structures. Previous studies show that Newmark design spectra exhibit lower amplitudes at high frequencies and larger amplitudes at low frequencies in comparison with spectra developed by statistical methods. To resolve this problem, this study considers three suites of ground motions recorded at three types of sites. Using these ground motions, influences of the shear-wave velocity, earthquake magnitudes, source-to-site distances on the ratios of ground motion parameters are studied, and spectrum amplification factors are statistically calculated. Spectral bounds for combinations of three site categories and two cases of earthquake magnitudes are estimated. Site design spectrum coefficients for the three site categories considering earthquake magnitudes are established. The problems of Newmark design spectra could be resolved by using the site design spectrum coefficients to modify the spectral values of Newmark design spectra in the acceleration sensitive, velocity sensitive, and displacement sensitive regions.

摘要：The problem of designing passive fault-tolerant flight controller is addressed when the normal and faulty cases are prescribed. First of all, the considered fault and fault-free cases are formed by polytopes. As considering that the safety of a post-fault system is directly related to the maximum values of physical variables in the system, peak-to-peak gain is selected to represent the relationships among the amplitudes of actuator outputs, system outputs, and reference commands. Based on the parameter dependent Lyapunov and slack methods, the passive fault-tolerant flight controllers in the absence/presence of system uncertainty for actuator failure cases are designed, respectively. Case studies of an airplane under actuator failures are carried out to validate the effectiveness of the proposed approach

摘要：Three major threats to ocean security and coastal zone sustainability - global warming, the loss of ocean biodiversity, and pollution - are combining to threaten the ecological integrity of our marine environment and life support systems. We put forward a geomatics-based systems engineering architecture to identify the location and extent of oil spills, thereby improving the ecological integrity of the world＇s oceans and helping contingency planners to determine required assets, personnel and other resources. This real-time, event-based and cost effective emergency management decision support system can aid in the classification, detection, and monitoring of oil spills in the marine environment. The developed Synthetic-Aperture Radar （SAR） processing and calibration techniques efficiently monitor environmental changes in inaccessible ocean regions, characterize oil spill scenarios, and help to identify spill sources. The system is used to improve emergency management in the Gulf of Mexico, with application to oil spills arising from Hurricane Katrina.
