摘要：In this paper, for the tool wear problem of the cutting process, the study on improving tool life has been done through the analysis of the Seebeck effect in the efficient turning process. The generation principle of the self-excited electric current in the cutting process is studied, and also its effect on the life of the turning cutter is studied, so as to reveal the mechanism of the self-excited electric current accelerating the wear of cutting tools. The study results show that the self-excited electric current which is generated during the cutting process is one of the main reasons that cause both the accelerated hardening and the low life of cutting tools to happen. Thus, if the generation of self-excited current is avoided and reduced, the cutting performance of cutting tools can be effectively improved, so to improve the tool life. The study can provide the anti-friction and anti-wear theory basis for the design of the efficient cutting tools.

摘要：Breaching of embankments has recently drawn more and more attention due to its importance in the development of early warning systems for embankment failures,in the evacuation plans of people at risk,in the design method of embankments based on a risk-approach,etc. The erosion process observed during embankment breaching tests in the laboratory and the analysis of the results are described in this paper. Five embankments,one constructed with pure sand,four with different sand-silt-clay mixtures were tested. The height of the embankments was 75 cm and the width at the crest was 60 cm. Examination of the data from these tests indicated that headcut erosion played an important role in the process of breach growth in the embankments made of cohesive soil mixtures. Flow shear erosion,fluidization of the headcut slope surface,undermining of the headcut due to impinging jet scour and discrete soil mechanical slope mass failure from the headcut were all observed during these tests. For the embankment constructed with pure sand,the breach erosion process was dominated by shear erosion,which led to a gradual and relatively uniform retreat of the downstream slope. The cohesive proportion in the sand-silt-clay mixtures strongly slowed down the erosion process.

摘要：Previously, a novel classifier called Kernel-based Nonlinear Discriminator (KND) was proposed to discriminate a pattern class from other classes by minimizing mean effect of the latter. To consider the effect of the target class, this paper introduces an oblique projection algorithm to determine the coefficients of a KND so that it is extended to a new version called extended KND (eKND). In eKND construction, the desired output vector of the target class is obliquely projected onto the relevant subspace along the subspace related to other classes. In addition, a simple technique is proposed to calculate the associated oblique projection operator. Experimental results on handwritten digit recognition show that the algorithm performes better than a KND classifier and some other commonly used classifiers.

摘要：yD3＋/Tm3＋ co-doped and yD3＋/Ho3＋/Tm3＋ tri-doped tellurite glasses were synthesized by fusing the mixture of TeO2, PbF2, AIF3, BaF2, Yb2O3, Tm203 and H0203 in a cortmdum crucible at 850 ℃ for 20 min. The synthesized glasses were characterized by upconversion emission spectra under the excitation of 980 nm laser, and the emission colors were investigated according to the CIE-1931 standards. The results indicated that yD3＋/Tm3＋ co-doped tellurite glass exhibited blue upconversion emission with favor- able color coordinates of （0.20, 0.07）. Yb3＋, HO3＋ and Tm3＋ tri-doped tellurite glasses presented white upconversion luminescence under a single 980 nm laser excitation. Moreover, a very wide range of emission colors could be tuned by altering Ho3＋ concentration. Combining the contribution of adjusting Ho3＋ concentration and pump power, near equal energy white light was obtained.

摘要：Both the repeated triaxial test （RTT） and the Hamburg wheel tracking test （HWTT） are adopted to evaluate the high temperature performance of the stone mastic asphalt （SMA） and the mastic asphalt （MA）. The correlation of the permanent deformations of the MA and the correlation of the deformation developments of the SMA between the two tests are analyzed, respectively. Results show that both the two tests can effectively identify the high temperature performance of mixtures, and the correlation between the final results of the two tests as well as that between the deformation developments of the two tests are excellent with R20.9. In order to further prove the correlation, viscoelastic parameters estimated from the RTT results is used to simulate the rutting development in the HWTT slabs by the finite element method （FEM）. Results indicate that the correlation between the two tests is significant with errors less than 10%. It is suitable to predict the rutting development with the viscoelastic parameters obtained from the RTT.
