摘要：Global failure mechanism, i.e., the strong-column weak-beam mechanism, can provide higher total energy dissipation capacity with less ductility demand on components than other failure modes, and results in a more uniform story drift distribution and higher resistance to earthquake loads at the system level. However, the current code-based elastic design method cannot guarantee the global failure mechanism of frame structures under severe earthquakes. In this paper, a simple, but practical design procedure is proposed to ensure the global failure mechanism of reinforced concrete(RC) frame structures by redesigning the columns using the column tree method(CTM). CTM considers the yield limit state of all beams and column bases. The code-based design is firstly carried out to determine the section information of all beams and base columns. Then, the internal force demands applied on the column tree can be derived. Lastly, the column moments, shear forces and axial forces are determined according to the free-body diagram of CTM to finish the column redesign. Two RC frame structures with 6 and 12 stories are illustrated to verify the design procedure. The analytical results demonstrate the proposed approach can realize the global failure mechanism.

摘要：A new application of Sun ONE architecture — an online custom system for Knitted Sweaters is presented, which links sweater design, manufacturing and sales in different places to share information through the *** framework and characteristics of J2EE and Sun ONE are analyzed. Having studied the requirements of the online custom system for knitted sweaters, the paper presents a detailed and original system design based on J2EE technology and Web Services. This paper also gives descriptions on how to assemble and deploy the whole system under the Sun ONE architecture.

摘要：This article presents a novel electrical/mechanical hybrid 4-redundancy brushless DC torque motor （BLDCM）, which has found applications in direct drive actuators （DDA） of aerial vehicles. This motor is characteristic of electrical/mechanical hybrid 4-redundancy by securing two stators along with two rotors on the same shaft. Each stator contains two sets of windings embed- ded in separated slots. Furthermore, compared to the scheme of two electrical dual-redundancy BLDCMs linked by a mechanical transmission, the proposed motor has lower volume and lighter weight, eliminates the nonlinearity caused by the gap of the me- chanical transmission, moderates the requirement for the torque balance between redundancies and reduces the cogging torque by shifting the magnets. Both magnetic circuit calculation and the finite element analysis （FEA） of the electromagnetic field are conducted to optimize the design process. A prototype motor has been produced and tested. The results indicate that its perform- ances comply with the requirements presented by designers. Moreover, the position frequency response of the prototype in the DDA＇s unloaded situation has also demonstrated the fulfillment of desired dynamic characteristics.

摘要：Lancet needle, having three planes at the tip to generate a sharp lancet point, is the most common needle tip geometry and used for medical procedures. This research presents two five-plane lancet needle designs, the five-plane lancet needle with two back bevels （FLN-B） and five-plane lancet needle with two front bevels （FLN-F）, to study the effects of two additional bevel planes on the reduction of soft tissue cutting force. Mathematical models to calculate the inclination angle and rake angle along the cutting edges of FLN-B and FLN-F are developed. By using the grinding process, the prototype FLN-B and FLN-F needles are fabricated. And their inclination and rake angles along the cutting edges are investigated and compared to that of regular lancet needle. Needles insertion tests were conducted on soft PVC phantom which mimics the soft tissue. The initial peak insertion force and steady-state cutting force during needle insertion were identified, and the effect of cutting edge on needle soft tissue cutting force was studied. Compared to lancet needle, FLN-B and FLN-F both have higher inclination and rake angles at the tip cutting edge, could reduce the initial peak needle insertion force and tissue cutting forces, and thus can efficiently cut the soft tissue for medical applications.

摘要：Remanufacturing represents the combination of "three Rs" (reduce, reuse, recycle) into a single activity, which restores a wide variety of worn-out, discarded durable products to like-new condition, prolonging their useful life, protecting the environment. The application of surface engineering has promoted the development of remanufacturing. Remanufacturing is an environmentally and economically sound way to achieve many of the goals of sustainable development. Through developing study of product design for remanufacturing, it can promote the surface technologies application in the remanufacturing, and markedly enhance the efficiency of remanufacturing. This paper gives some relative concepts about product design for remanufacturing, such as remanufacturability, and brings forward the remanufacturability research contents and assessment method of used product.

摘要：This article reviews author＇s research work on fiber-optic sensors over the last twenty years. It includes two aspects： low-coherence interferometric sensors （LCI） and fiber Bragg grating （FBG） sensors. For LCI sensors, author＇s work mainly focuses on the interrogation and multiplexing methods for Fizeau and Fabry-Perot interferometric sensors at the University of Kent at Canterbury （UKC）, UK, and study on novel Fabry-Perot interferometric sensors and their multiplexing methods at Chongqing University （CQU） and University of Electronic Science ＆ Technology of China （UESTC）, China, respectively. For FBG sensors, a number of multiplexing schemes are proposed and demonstrated at UKC, and then novel methods for realization of multi-parameter measurement and long-distance measurement based on the FBG sensor and its combination with other optical fiber sensors are also reported at CQU ＆ UESTC. Thus, author＇s study on these two topics can be diviaed into two periods, at UKC and at CQU ＆ UESTC, China. This review is presented in such a time sequence.
