Meanwhil., fl.orescent probes with aggregationinduced emission properties(AIEgens) possess unique photophysical.properties that al.ow modul.tion of the sensing process through control.ing the aggregation-disaggregation or the intramol.cul.r rotational.motions of the fl.orophores. Herein we review the recent progress in the devel.pment of biothiol.specific AIEgens. In particul.r, the mol.cul.r design principl.s to target different types of biothiol. and the corresponding sensing mechanisms are discussed, al.ng with the potential.of the future design and devel.pment of mul.i-functional.bioprobes.
