摘要：The architecture of and the corresponding control algorithm for a devised optical cross-connect, limited- range wavelength converision wavelength interchangeable cross-connect （L-WIXC）, are presented. The performances of L-WIXC including blocking probability, switching time, and throughput are simulated. Cost comparison with wavelength selective cross-connect （WSXC） and WIXC is calculated. Key optical parameters, such as crosstalk, eye diagram, bit error rate, and linear Q factor, are measured and discussed.

摘要：The concept of mobile atmospheric laser communication (MALC) is introduced in this paper. Atmospheric attenuation, turbulence-induced scintillation and beam wander cause deep fades in the beam power and degrade the optical channel. The optical transceiver presented in this paper is designed for a MALC test system. Currently achievable hardware performance capabilities for the MALC terminals are used as input parameters to the analysis. A novel optical transceiver structure is designed. Link margin is analyzed using the MALC analysis software, our optical link analysis program. Data rate, bit-error rate, prime transmit power requirements, optical link margin, pulse width, background signal, aperture quality and atmospheric effects drive the optical transmitter requirements. Results are displayed as required aperture size, aperture number and the spacing between apertures for a given range and terminal moving speed. The aperture size is parameterized by data rate, transmitting optical power and wavelength. Si-APD and CCD are selected as the main receive detectors. The receiver aperture, detector size (diameter), receiver speed and sensitivity are the main factors to consider in the design of the receiver.

摘要：An OOK-NRZ visible light communication (VLC) system is designed by using a single white LED and a 550 nm visible photodetector. The emitting model of the single LED is established, and the general expression of the detector's output signals under OOK modulation is deduced. With the selected LED, detector and other related parameters, the designed communication system is optimized and its performance is analyzed. The optimized communication distance between the LED and the detector is 0.54 m at the communication bit rate of 1 Mbit/s. With the best communication distance, when the signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) is larger than 6.5 dB, the bit error rate (BER) can drop to 10-4. The analytical model and theory presented in this paper can be of certain practical meanings in the design of similar communication systems.
