摘要：Observations from clinical trials have frequently demonstrated that light therapy can be an effective therapy for seasonal and non-seasonal major depression. Despite the fact that light therapy is known to have several advantages over antidepressant drugs like a low cost,minimal side-effects, and fast onset of therapeutic effect,the mechanism underlying light therapy remains *** far, it is known that light therapy modulates mood states and cognitive functions, involving circadian and noncircadian pathways from retinas into brain. In this review,we discuss the therapeutic effect of light on major depression and its relationship to direct retinal projections in the brain. We finally emphasize the function of the retino-raphe projection in modulating serotonin activity,which probably underlies the antidepressant effect of light therapy for depression.

摘要：Our voluntary project ran in different groups of adults （healthy, depressed, schizophrenic, and clients with anxiety disorders）. The study is based on analysis of personal counseling experience, where literature was used as a tool to disclose client＇s personal meanings. During our sessions, clients were observed phenomenologically, and their speach was written down. Reflecting on the qualitative data of transformative learning in language arts, we developed techniques for facilitation and disclosure of personal meanings. Grounded theory was used for data generalization： Personal educational insights and its comparison with other researchers＇ theoretical insights were the basis to develop the methodical system for psychological guidance and counseling and to explain it. We revealed that focus on personally important meanings during discussion after literature reading has influence on the mental state of personality and deepens the interactions with the literature art, so we suggest a spiral model to explain the methodical system of our method. Transformative learning in language arts as a method of guidance and counseling can be understood as spiritual motion by spirale. It has three levels： （1） art level （interaction with the literature）; （2） psychology level （counseling）; and （3） art level （interaction with the same peace of literature as in the beginning of the session, poetic summary of the session）. Levels （1） and （3） mean interaction with literature art, but at the third level, this interaction has new quality, because personality has better perception of Self and more ability to connect personal meanings and literature wisdom. At the first level, we have direction from literature to Personality. At the third level, we have direction from the Self （Speaking from Within） to literature. 摘要：The present study aimed at determining whether short-term exposure to art in shared common areas in congregate housing units could affect health and health determinants among the residents. Ten residents (mean age 80.4 years) at one block were exposed to visual art environmental enrichment in common areas over a period of three months. Thirteen persons (mean age 86.6 years) living in another block played in-house boule. Cornell’s test, Mini-Mental tests (MMT), and face recognition test were performed to assess depression, cognition, and episodic memory, respectively before and after the intervention. The results show that visual art environmental enrichment in common areas and lack of stimulating and guiding dialogues show a change in depression scores in the intervention group (p = 0.018) and the control group (p = 0.009). MMT scores improved only in the control group (p = 0.003). No changes in episodic memory in any of the groups were observed. It could be concluded that in order to obtain a positive result of short term visual art environmental enrichment, guiding art dialogues conducted by nurses, as described in previous research, should be added to visual art environmental enrichment in healthcare settings.

摘要：Talc has found a steadily increasing number of uses such as cosmetics, steatite and cordierite ceramics, for pitch control in the paper industry and as a reinforcing filler in rubber, etc. In this research, the amenability of some Egyptian carboniferous finely disseminated talc ores to beneficiation by flotation was investigated on laboratory scale. The original talc sample is characterized by low MgO content (25.40%), low SiO2 (45.71%), high CaO content (6.32%) and high L.O.I. (11.35%), indicating its low grade. Attrition scrubbing of the crushed ores was found to be an unconventional process, not only for fine talc production, but also for proper separation of the harder carbonaceous gangue. Talc pre-concentrates, less than 0.074 μm, were prepared by attrition scrubbing in the laboratory having 8.40% L.O.I. with a yield reaching 74.70%. Cleaner talc concentrate with L.O.I. content averaging 6.70% was obtained by flotation in the presence of Aerofroth 71 with a yield reaching 64.71%. This was relatively improved by the use of a selective (quaternary amine) talc collector and in presence of a selective carbonate depressant (soda ash). Flotation of the fine ground talc (less than 22 μm) produced a talc concentrate assaying 6.90% L.O.I. with a yield recovery of 62.91%. However, different talc concentrates obtained by just natural floatability or by the use of small dose of Aerofroth 71, or by the application of quaternary amine in presence of carbonate depressant, satisfy the requirement of paper coating, ceramics production, functional filler, and pharmaceuticals applications. Tailings could also be used in carpets, roofs, and tiles production industries.

摘要：Purpose: To define the level of quality of life in an elderly population and to investigate the effects of selected variables, such as anemia, fatigue, depression and sleep disorders, on the quality of life. Design and Methods: The study was conducted in Gazio?lu Nursing Home, located in the city center of Kayseri, on 136 subjects ≥65 in the year 2008-2009. Data were collected using the Geriatric depression Scale (GDS), Fatigue Severity Scale (FSS), Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI) and the World Health Organization Quality of Life-OLD (WHOQOL- OLD) Module. In the statistical analysis mean ± standard deviation, student’s t-test, ANOVA and Spearman correlation analysis were used. Re- sults: The mean total score of quality of life was 43.45 ± 10.30. Of the residents 47.0% had a poor quality of life. Autonomy had the lowest (35.70 ± 19.96) and intimacy had the highest (48.75 ± 17.96) subdomain scores. Fatigue significantly decreased the total and autonomy, social par- ticipation and death and dying subdomain scores. Anemia had a significant adverse effect on intimacy, depression on autonomy and intimacy and sleep disorder on death and dying. There were negative correlations between fatigue with past-present-future activities and social participation, depression with social participation, intimacy, death and dying and glucose levels with social participation and intimacy. Implications: About half of the subjects had a poor quality of life. Fatigue was the sole factor to negatively affect the total score in WHOQOL-OLD. depression, anemia and sleep disorder adversely affected the autonomy, social participation, intimacy, death and dying subdomain scores but not in all.

摘要：An engineering geological survey using the cone penetrometer and finite element method was carried out to characterize sand-fill thick- nesses in a reclaimed area of Lagos, SW Nigeria. A previously developed finite element program was modified in order to allow for predicting the sand-fill thicknesses, and have an unders- tanding of the geomorphic shallow structures existing pre-sand-fill. The program was tested using the obtained cone penetrometer test re-sults from the Lekki-Peninsula area. The finite element predicted thicknesses show good cor-relation with the penetrometer obtained thicknesses. Six zones with thick sand-fill thick-nesses varying from 1.25 to 6.0m were identified from the isopach maps, these zones correlate with major/minor depression associated with river/stream channels and creeks. These are the main shallow geomorphic structural features present in the area pre-sand fill. The structural trends of the depressions are largely influenced by the oceanic fracture pattern.

摘要：Governance is a process of establishing policies or laws and continuously monitoring their implementation in the public. Citizens are the main stakeholders in this process. To make the governance process cost effective, easy and convenient to the citizens, information and communication technologies (ICTs) are playing a vital role. Using ICTs in governance domain can be referred as e-governance. It helps citizen to participate not only in policy making but also in service quality improvements and getting government services over network. Web technology is one of the major technologies that have been used in e-governance as a major contributor. Before invention of web, citizens used to write their opinions and send to concerned body via post mail or local suggestion box for improvements of services. After the invention of the web, it became possible to post or send the opinions/comments over organization’s web sites or portals. As the number of comments increases over the web, it is very difficult to have relevant information for furthering the decision making processes. In these study, text processing and data mining techniques have been used. The prototype system classifies citizen’s opinions in one of six service categories with the precision of 87.3% and recall of 85.8%. Further, the system determines opinions as appreciation with the precision of 100% for both depression and appreciation, and average recall of 90.85% for both depression and appreciation. The results obtained from the prototype system indicate that the techniques that have been applied are promising for real world application in e-governance.
