摘要：We demonstrate a technique of temperature compensation for 1.3μm InAs/GaAs quantum-dot(QD)lasers by facet coating *** key point of the technique is to make sure that the mirror loss of the lasers decreases as the temperature *** realize this,we design a type of facet coating by shifting the central wavelength of the facet coating from 1310nm to 1480nm,whose reflectivity increases as the emission wavelength of the lasers ***,the laser with the new facet coating exhibits a characteristic temperature doubled in size and a more stable slope efficiency in the temperature range from 10℃to 70℃,compared with the traditional one with a temperature-independent mirror loss.

摘要：The inlet attack angle of rotor blade reasonably can be adjusted with the change of the stagger angle of inlet guide vane (IGV); so the efficiency of each condition will be affected. For the purpose to improve the efficiency, the DSP (Digital Signal Processor) controller is designed to adjust the stagger angle of IGV automatically in order to optimize the efficiency at any operating condition. The A/D signal collection includes inlet static pressure, outlet static pressure, outlet total pressure, rotor speed and torque signal, the efficiency can be calculated in the DSP, and the angle signal for the stepping motor which control the IGV will be sent out from the D/A. Experimental investigations are performed in a three-stage, low-speed axial compressor with variable inlet guide vanes. It is demonstrated that the DSP designed can well adjust the stagger angle of IGV online, the efficiency under different conditions can be optimized. This establishment of DSP online adjustment scheme may provide a practical solution for improving performance of multi-stage axial flow compressor when its operating condition is varied.

摘要：An inchworm-like capsule robot(ILCR) is a promising device for a minimally invasive diagnosis and treatment of colon diseases. It consists of two expanders and one extensor, the former provides a traction force by expanding the colon and the latter can elongate and retract to enable active locomotion. However, the locomotion efficiency of the ILCR can be seriously lowered by the complex colon environment featuring slippery, viscoelastic, and suspend properties, which has been a main obstacle to its clinical application. This paper aims at improving the locomotion efficiency of the ILCR by optimizing its extensor design. To do this, the locomotion resistance of the ILCR in the colon is analyzed, and complying with a requirement that the traction force must be larger than the locomotion resistance to avoid slipping, a restriction on the extensor design is obtained. Then under the restriction and with reference to the Hyperelastic model which correlates stress and strain of colon tissue, a model for analyzing the influence of the design parameters of the extensor on the locomotion efficiency of the ILCR is built. With this model, the extensor has been optimized and the optimized results have been used to guide the development of a novel extensor, which employs two pairs of lead-screws and nuts and is actuated by one motor. Ex-vivo experiment has shown that the novel extensor can improve the locomotion efficiency of an ILCR prototype by 57%, without changing its total length.

摘要：Over the past few years, three photorespiratory bypasses have been introduced into plants, two of which led to observable in creases in photos yn thesis and biomass yield. However, most of the experiments were carried out using Arabidopsis under controlled environmental conditions, and the increases were only observed under low-light and short-day conditions. In this study, we designed a new photorespiratory bypass (called GOC bypass), characterized by no reducing equivalents being produced during a complete oxidation of glycolate into CO2 catalyzed by three rice-self-originating enzymes, i.e., glycolate oxidase, oxalate oxidase, and catalase. We successfully established this bypass in rice chloroplasts using a multi-gene assembly and transformation system. Transgenic rice plants carrying GOC bypass (GOC plants) showed significant increases in photosynthesis efficiency, biomass yield, and nitrogen content, as well as several other CO2-enriched phe no types under both greenhouse and field conditions .Grain yield of GOC plants varied depending on seeding season and was increased significantly in the spring. We further demonstrated that GOC plants had significant advantages under high-light conditions and that the improvements in GOC plants resulted primarily from a photosynthetic CO2-concentrating effect rather than from improved energy balance. Taken together, our results reveal that engineering a newly designed chloroplastic photorespiratory bypass could increase photosynthetic efficiency and yield of rice plants grown in field conditions, particularly under high light.

摘要：A Y-band frequency doubler is analyzed and designed with GaAs planar Schottky diode, which is flip-chip solded into a 50 μm thick quartz substrate. Diode embedding impedance is found by full- wave analysis with lumped port to model the nonlinear junction for impedance matching without the need of diode equivalent circuit model. All the matching circuit is designed ＂on-chip＂ and the mul- tiplier is self-biasing. To the doubler, a conversion efficiency of 6.1% and output power of 5.4mW are measured at 214GHz with input power of 88mW, and the typical measured efficiency is 4.5% in 200 - 225 GHz.

摘要：Adaptive cluster sampling (ACS) has been a very important tool in estimation of population parameters of rare and clustered population. The fundamental idea behind this sampling plan is to decide on an initial sample from a defined population and to keep on sampling within the vicinity of the units that satisfy the condition that at least one characteristic of interest exists in a unit selected in the initial sample. Despite being an important tool for sampling rare and clustered population, adaptive cluster sampling design is unable to control the final sample size when no prior knowledge of the population is available. Thus adaptive cluster sampling with data-driven stopping rule (ACS’) was proposed to control the final sample size when prior knowledge of population structure is not available. This study examined the behavior of the HT, and HH estimator under the ACS design and ACS’ design using artificial population that is designed to have all the characteristics of a rare and clustered population. The efficiencies of the HT and HH estimator were used to determine the most efficient design in estimation of population mean in rare and clustered population. Results of both the simulated data and the real data show that the adaptive cluster sampling with stopping rule is more efficient for estimation of rare and clustered population than ordinary adaptive cluster sampling.

摘要：The environmental psychology ofa workspace is a rich and diverse field of study that is growing fast and gaining popularity. The indoor environmental factors in workspaces should follow functional as well as behavioral requirements as the spaces are designed as per the user＇s requirements, needs and aspirations. These play a major role in achieving behavioral impact on the user, as sense of well-being in the environment and physical comfort in the space enhances the productivity and efficiency of the user of the space. The slow and gradual importance of this issue in workspace design with Indian context, post occupancy evaluation can be adjudged as a permanent tool for improving indoor environment in buildings. Occupants should be used as a benchmark of evaluation, showing correlation of physical measurements and subjective parameters. It also suggests recommendations to improve quality of indoor environment in office buildings with analytical study, an important step in post occupancy evaluation. The objective of the paper is to inquire how people experience environmental psychology of the workspace as the determinants are efficiency, productivity and comfort. The success of any design depends upon the degree to which it creates an interface between the user and the environment.
