摘要：One-dimensional photonic crystal structures for multiple channeled filtering and polarization selective filtering in the terahertz （THz） range are studied *** design of aperiodic photonic quantum-well （APQW） structures for multiple channeled filtering and different polarization filtering at arbitrary preassigned frequencies are achieved by using the simulated annealing algorithm with a special merit function. The parameters of these filters can be expediently controlled and the transmission characters are polarization dependent. Numerical simulations show that the designed APQWs can meet the desired specification well.

摘要：In this paper a compact polarization beam splitter based on a deformed photonic crystal directional coupler is designed and simulated. The transverse-electric （TE） guided mode and transverse-magnetic （TM） guided mode are split due to different guiding mechanisms. The effect of the shape deformation of the air holes on the coupler is studied. It discovered that the coupling strength of the coupled waveguldes is strongly enhanced by introducing elliptical airholes, which reduce the device length to less than ***. A finite-difference tlme-domain simulation is performed to evaluate the performance of the device, and the extinction ratios for both TE and TM polarized light are higher than 20 dB.

摘要：In this paper, we design and characterize a novel small size four-channel biosensor based on the two-dimensional photonic crystal with introducing waveguides and nano-cavities in the hexagonal lattice of air pores in the silicon slab. By removing a group of air pores, waveguides are achieved, and nano-cavities are shaped by modifying the radius of air pores. Highly parallel operation of this biosensor due to the special architecture is the capability of the designed structure. The biomaterials which are suspended in a liquid medium inside nano-cavities cause effective refractive index changes which lead to the resonant wavelength shift in the output terminal. According to results, with increasing the refractive index of nano-cavities, resonant wavelengths shifts to longer values. For biochemical sensing like DNA molecule and protein and for the refractive index detection, this novel designed biosensor can be utilized.

摘要：Optical logic gates are elementary components for optical network and optical computing. In this paper, we propose a structure for AND, NAND, XNOR and NOR logic gates in the two dimensional photonic crystal which utilizes the dispersion based self-collimation effect. The self-collimated beam is splitted by the line defect and interfered with other self-collimated beam. This interference may be constructive or destructive based on their phase difference. This phenomenon is employed to realize all-optical logic gates. The gates are demonstrated numerically by computing electromagnetic field distribution using the finite difference time domain （FDTD） method. The results ensure that this design can function as AND, NAND, XNOR and NOR logic gates. The size of the structure is about 10 μm× 10 μm which in turn results in an increase in the speed and all the gates are realized in the same configuration. The ON-OFF contrast ratio is about 6 dB.

摘要：Light trapping is a constant pursuit in photonics because of its importance in science and *** mechanisms have been explored,including the use of mirrors made of materials or structures that forbid outgoing waves,and bound states in the continuum that are mirror-less but based on *** we report a compound method,combining lateral mirrors and bound states in the continuum in a cooperative way,to achieve a class of on-chip optical cavities that have high quality factors and small modal ***,light is trapped in the transverse direction by the photonic band gap of the lateral hetero-structure and confined in the vertical direction by the constellation of multiple bound states in the *** a result,unlike most bound states in the continuum found in photonic crystal slabs that are de-localized Bloch modes,we achieve light-trapping in all three dimensions and experimentally demonstrate quality factors as high as Q=1.09×10^(6)and modal volumes as low as V=17.74(λ_(0)/n)^(3)in the telecommunication *** further prove the robustness of our method through the statistical study of multiple fabricated *** work provides a new method of light trapping,which can find potential applications in photonic integration,nonlinear optics and quantum computing.

摘要：Spectral and directional control of thermal emission based on excitation of confined electromagnetic resonant modes paves a viable way for the design and construction of microscale thermal emitters/absorbers. In this paper, we present numerical simulation results of the thermal radiative properties of a silicon carbide（Si C） thermal emitter/absorber composed of periodic microstructures. We illustrate different electromagnetic resonant modes which can be excited with the structure,such as surface phonon polaritons, magnetic polaritons and photonic crystal modes, and the process of radiation spectrum optimization based on a non-linear optimization algorithm. We show that the spectral and directional control of thermal emission/absorption can be efficiently achieved by adjusting the geometrical parameters of the structure. Moreover, the optimized spectrum is insensitive to 3% dimension modification.
