摘要：The term ＂ontology＂ is used to describe the nature of reality and demarcates the parameters of existence. An understanding and description of ontology is crucial for academic pursuit as it unveils applicable realities, yet it is often disregarded. The general neglect of ontology provided three motivations for this paper： Firstly, the discussion of the ontological underpinnings in research papers is often neglected while the methodology and methods receive extensive review. Secondly, tertiary students in an academic research-writing course face tremendous difficulty to describe the philosophical ideas that support their interpretation of reality and existence. Thirdly, the philosophical underpinnings of contemporary ontological thought are further complicated by the epistemological challenges posed by the tension between modernism and postmodernism. This paper suggests the use of literature （novels） as a relativity accessible platform to initiate the development of ontological thought. Through a close reading of a sample of Dutch novels published during the last decade of the 20th century, three themes were developed to illuminate the nature of postmodem reality and establish a literary-based ontology. The following three themes were developed： reality as fragments of fiction, reality as dream of paradoxes, and reality as plethora of stories. By using literature as source, ontological thought can be developed to illuminate the extent of the realities acknowledged in research projects.

摘要：Wallace Stevens is one of five greatest poets in America in 20th century. The relation between imagination and reality is a major theme of his poems. He holds the view that the mission of poets is to build a bridge linking the world of imagination and of reality with the result of deconstructing the logic of binary opposition since the time of Plato. Thirteen Ways of Looking at A Blackbird is a representative poem that expresses Wallace’s thoughts of deconstruction. This article is to probe into how the poet establishes the reality dominated by imagination and then how he deconstructs the binary opposition between imagination and reality since the time of Plato.

摘要：The proposed design methodology combines data analysis, algorithmic design, linguistics, mathematics physics to analyze methodologically the complex system of the urban fabric. The implementation of this design mechanism uses the urban fabric of Eleusis as a paradigm. The urban body of Eleusis is defined as a palimpsest of descriptions and images, synthesized spatially in multiple layers and is therefore considered to be a suitable sample for the preliminary application of the proposed methodology. Urban reality can be described as a complex system as it consists of both tangible and intangible elements, the characteristics of which are quantified by the context and the logical descriptions in which they are incorporated. However, descriptive logic changes constantly, following the development of multiplicity and the extension of concepts. Therefore, the body of urban reality is redefined continuously following the change in both logical descriptions and contexts. Considering that each framework draws up an ideology and chooses to analyze its’ core meaning, a linguistic analysis tool is developed for the combination of data visualization analysis, linguistic, and design methodologies to parameterize description of logics. Written speech is transformed into networks visualizing their ontological relationships. This creates a nebula of data (cluster) that assembles the immaterial reality of the urban fabric which is then transformed into local parameters by the appropriate methodological processes giving the relation between the nebula of descriptions and the locality of the network of descriptions.
