摘要：Because of the great charm and social influence of the art of film, people regard the movie Tess is much more impressive than the original novel Tess of the D’Urbervilles. However, the character and image of Tess in the film have a considerable distance of the Tess described by Thomas Hardy. That unyielding Tess in original, who boldly resists bias and the injustice of fate, is gone and replaces it with a pathetic and vain girl who is too good near to be weak. This undoubtedly weakened the image of the artistic value of Tess and it has nothing in common with Hardy’s evaluation towards Tess—“a pure woman”. Therefore, in a sense, the adaptation of Tess is a failure.

摘要：The literary adaptations of canonical novels for film provide a unique repository of both identity contents and socio-cultural observations which can be revisited through the filmic representations. These recreations symbolize not only a privileged visual interpretation of a nation, but they also allow us to examine how a given society reflects itself through the fiction. In this sense, the objective of this paper is to reflect upon the Portuguese updated filmic adaptation of The Crime of Father Amaro （1880） by the canonical author Eta de Queiroz. On one hand, the author intends to rethink about the Portuguese identity portrayed by the film and, at the same time, the author manages to observe how the Portuguese society is revealed. On the other hand, the paper aims to analyze the particular process of the adaptation of The Crime of Father Amaro following a qualitative methodology

摘要：Extreme weather is expected to be widespread by the year 2100 due to changes in precipitation and temperature, and rising sea levels. It is expected that there will be more heat waves, floods, bush fires, coastal erosion and drought. Unfortunately, Australia is vulnerable to climate change due its hot and dry climate and as the driest state; changes are already being felt in South Australia. There is an urgent need to start adapting to climate change to cope with present and predicted climate change in the future by changing or adjusting building regulations, land use plans, and land subdivision regulations. This paper aims to provide design guidelines for adaptation to climate change at the neighborhood level. A case study method was adopted to achieve the aim of this paper. The study was conducted in two stages. The first stage presents the current design of neighborhood and its adopted design parameters for climate change. The second part provides the design guidelines for adaptation to climate change at the neighborhood level. The case study has a well oriented grid iron layout that serves as the basis of orienting and sitting future buildings that can adapt to climate change. However, the orientation of roads is good, it will be necessary to reconfigure elements of landscaping and built environment in order to address climate change in built environment by modifying design elements.

In this paper, the relational problems about distributed C2 organizational structure adaptation are discussed, and the methodology for team decision making design based on the object oriented technique is studied.

摘要：A fundamental objective within ecotoxicology lies in understanding and predicting effects of contaminants. This ob- jective is made more challenging when global climate change is considered as an environmental stress that co-occurs with con- taminant exposure. In this multi-stressor context, evolutionary processes are particularly important. In this paper, we consider several non-＂omic＂ approaches wherein evolutionary responses to stress have been studied and discuss those amenable to a mul- tiple stressor context. Specifically, we discuss common-garden designs, artificial and quasi-natural selection, and the estimation of adaptive potential using quantitative genetics as methods for studying evolutionary responses to contaminants and climate change in the absence of expensive molecular tools. While all approaches shed light on potential evolutionary impacts of stressor exposure, they also have limitations. These include logistical constraints, difficulty extrapolating to real systems, and responses tied strongly to specific taxa, populations, and/or testing conditions. The most effective way to lessen these inherent limitations is likely through inclusion of complementary physiological and molecular tools, when available. We believe that an evolutionary context to the study of contaminants and global climate change is a high priority in ecotoxicology and we outline methods that can be implemented by almost any researcher but will also provide valuable insights [Current Zoology 61 （4）： 690-701, 2015].

摘要：Marcel Proust is an author of global significance and renown. Trans- lations into Chinese and Korean of A la recherche du temps perdu are ongoing. The Gallica online library of France＇s Bibliothbque nationale makes the notebooks from which Proust＇s novel emerged between 1908 and 1922 digitally accessible any- where in the world. It is well known that Proust has been adapted to graphic novel format, individual volumes of his novel have been adapted for cinema, inspired ballet and musical theatre and his characters＇ lives have fuelled works of fiction by contemporary creative writers. This paper considers a very recent instance of Proust＇s reception and adaptation： ＂Works in Fiber, Paper and Proust＂ created by the critic and theorist Eve Kosofsky Sedgwick （1950-2009） and first exhibited at Harvard University in 2005. These remarkable objects--including what Sedgwick calls an ＂accordion-book＂ and a ＂loom-book＂--give a woven, layered physicality to Proust＇s words and remobilise them in ways that force us to reconfigure our understanding of the text-reader relation. Sedgwick＇s visual, textile artworks are the products of creative, adaptive practices undertaken as a sort of therapy that was instrumental in her coming to terms with the terminal cancer diagnosis she received in 1996. My paper explores Sedgwick＇s adaptive practice and interrogates the in- sights their challenging hybridity offers us into the ongoing transmission of Proust＇s work.

摘要：Thomas Hardy, one of the greatest British novelists in the 19th century. The Mayor of Casterbridge, which is usually regarded as one of the best novels for Thomas Hardy, has received different interpretations since its publication. This thesis tries to explore novel from the perspective of Darwinsm and Social Darwinism. The spirit of Darwinism is expressed all through the novel. Thomas Hardy＇s firm adherence to Darwinism and social Darwinism is reflected in his design of the rise and fall of Henchard, and the competition between Henchard and Farfrae. The rise and fall of Henchard, the competition between Henchard and Farfrae are analyzed by employing the principle of adaptation and the principle of struggling for existence.

A structure of bonds is to be designed to promote a rapid and safe movement of resources, of people, of ideas, even from and to most remote sites. Infrastructure can foster a vast economic development, and also, a profound social and cultural development.

摘要：In contrast with the large number of theatrical performances and filmic versions for television, both British and American, based on the play The Importance of Being Earnest （1975） by Oscar Wilde, there have only been, so far, three films made for the cinema. Although one of them was made in the United States by the American director Kurt Baker in 1992, this paper will address only the two English versions, chronologically separated by a 50-year time span. It will focus on the cinematic adaptations made by English directors Anthony Asquith and Oliver Parker, the former in 1952 and the latter in 2002. Based on the same play, this comparative approach may throw some light on the evolution of cinematographic conditions and techniques as well as relate them to the expectations of audiences in the mid 20th century and at the beginning of the 21st century.
