摘要：This article is based on the theory of foreign language course design. It mainly introduces and analyzes the methods and mode of foreign language design and also integrates with the practice of foreign language teaching, the author thinks a competent foreign language teacher should not only be satisfied with inculcating ready-made knowledge, but they should also constantly foster the ability of blazing new trails and try to grasp the theory and methods of course design ,and try to carry out course design according to practice and try to give play to their teaching personality and creativity and to have a bold try and exploration and try to improve the foreign language course and foreign language teaching.

摘要：This paper argues that the present vocabulary teaching needs reorienting so as to achieve a more systematic and principled vocabulary teaching suitable for China＇s non-English majors. The author then tries to propose a new model of vocabulary teaching, which consists of explicit instruction, incidental learning and strategy training.

This essay intends to design an intensive, non-assessed, inservice oral business English course for intermediate business people.

摘要：Needs analysis as the central force of EAP has received insufficient practice, resulting in dissatisfactory pedagogy. This study proposes a framework of CEAPNA （comprehensive EAP needs analysis）, and illustrates how the framework helps to shape learning-centered EAP pedagogy. The CEAPNA survey covered 452 undergraduates and 83 faculty members from science and engineering departments, and was triangulated with the researchers＇ retrospection of seven years of pedagogical practice. Major findings in the study suggest multiple sources as a must in a comprehensive and accurate analysis of EAP learner needs. In the meantime, the specificity of learner needs addresses EAP practitioners＇ endeavors to specify these needs in various dimensions, so as to negotiate a satisfactory balance between language, cognition and affect in EAP pedagogy. Due to realistic constraints in specifying and balancing the needs, this paper wishes to oblige with a conceptual interpretation as well as a pedagogical retrospection.

摘要：BE （Business English） has been unprecedentedly emphasized and gradually developed into an independent discipline. The paper aims to explore a holistic course design for business professionals in IBC （Intercultural Business Communication） based on CLT （Communicative Language Teaching）. The proposed course design encompasses three-dimensional contents： comprehensive language and expertise training, intercultural communicative competence cultivation, and intercultural PBL （project-based learning）. A survey is conducted in a training program of Chinese business professionals in international institutions. Three principles are identified： （1） BE teaching is need-oriented, so the pedagogical methods should be tailored to meet the international workplace requirements; （2） The linguistic and professional knowledge acquisition is achieved through communicative function of the target language; and （3） Learners＇ participation in intercultural PBL can stimulate learners＇ interest and enhance their operational capabilities. The findings of the case study indicate that a holistic course design is： （1） course syllabus should not be formed without taking the leamers＇ expectation and feedback into consideration; （2） Teaching strategies should be innovated to enhance learners＇ communicative confidence and competence; and （3） Teaching materials should be adapted and subjected to modification according to the authentic language used in intercultural settings. The study outcomes may also shed light on other disciplines of ESP teaching.

摘要：本文旨在设计一套适合机场信息台工作人员的英语培训课程,反映出了许多第二语言及外语教学工作者在承担课程设计及改进任务时遇到的共同问题,例如:学习者需求分析、课程目标设定、设计定制教材等,详细阐述了课程设计实践过程中的研究方法、数据采集、研究结果及课程大纲、课表、教材、测试及评价方案,同时也总结了课程实践过程中遇到的问题和体现出的不足,提出了进一步改善课程的方向和措施,讨论了可能促成特殊用途英语发展趋势的因素以及对英语课程和教学领域的启示。

摘要：This article relates and reflects on my teaching experience spanning from spring 2009 through spring 2013, when I was engaged in constructing and reconstructing a course called ＂Reading Bestsellers.＂ Principles were altered for the course design virtually each semester, starting from an attempt to offer variety in readings, undergoing a plan to downsize the reading list for neatness, and then a challenge to seek a balance between fiction and nonfiction. Despite the change of the principles, one principle has remained unchanged-the overarching principle of trial and error. Given this general guidance, I have reconstructed the course with a choice of high-end bestsellers. I have become aware that there should have been less concern about the boundaries between fiction and nonfiction than about the need to defy narrow categorization whenever necessary. Academic neatness may be desirable but impossible to tackle in-between intricacy, which proves to be the essence of life, and for that matter, the very essence of literature.

摘要：With the rapid development of economic globalization, foreign language talents who are cultivated by general foreign language teaching should meet the requirements of the international development strategy. Therefore, it is of great importance to promote foreign language teaching quality. In this paper, we discuss how to fully utilize the English for Specific Purposes （ESP） theory to enhance professional foreign language teaching quality. ESP refers to a type of teaching concept or approach as the counterpart of English for General Purposes （EGP）, which contains a vast range of aspects. Particularly, we propose two English course design methods based on the ESP theory, that is, 1） language centered curriculum design, and 2） learning centered curriculum design. Finally, experimental results demonstrate that the proposed method can significantly improve teaching quality.

摘要：Recent years, problems of the current college English courses, such as test-oriented teaching, wasteful duplication of language skills teaching, etc., have been criticized by educators and students in China. Thus, turning skill-based English courses into content-based ESP （English for Special Purposes） courses has become a tendency at colleges and universities in China. The purpose of this paper is to analyze factors influencing the design of such courses through the means of questionnaire, individual interviews, data survey （e.g., educational plans） etc.. We found the following factors throw light on the questions relating to curriculum design of ESP courses： （1） the learners＇ learning needs; （2） the social needs （esp. labor market needs）; and （3） the academic needs from the university. The analysis serves to reveal the gap between the school system and actual social and students needs. With these factors in mind, designers of such courses can adjust goals, contents, approaches, and assessments in the practical teaching. And thus these factors would enable content-based ESP courses to reflect learners＇ needs better and lead to more effective langrage learning in college English teaching field.
