摘要：The aim of this paper is to design a water desalination plant using Reverse Osmosis membrane to treat salt water to be usable for drinkable, domestic, industrial or agricultural uses. RO unit is designed to conservative standards for versatility in the event of feed water quality variations. The design includes a feed water flush cycle to minimize membrane fouling and piping corrosion during shutdown. The system will be all appropriate controls and instrumentation for automatic operation. All system components are available and of heavy duty industrial design and fabricated with the highest quality workmanship. Quality control will be maintained throughout all manufacturing processes. The system will produce permeate water minimum of 3600 m3/day with a quality of approximately 100 ppm total dissolved solids (TDS) when operating on well feed water with a 10,000 ppm TDS and a temperature of 25 - 30 degrees C. The design permeate recovery is 50%;and energy recovery device which saves $30,556.28/year.

摘要：With the application of supercavitation effect, a novel device named rotational supercavitating evaporator(RSCE) was recently designed for desalination. In order to improve the blade shape of rotational cavitator in RSCE for performance optimization and then design three-dimensional blades, numerical simulations are conducted on the supercavitating flows(with cavitation number ranging from 0.055 to 0.315) around two-dimensional planar symmetric wedge-shaped cavitators with different wedge angles varied from 10 to 180 degrees. Proper numerical method for simulating supercavitating flows around planar symmetric cavitator is established, and assessment of k-ε-v2 -f turbulence model in simulating cavitating flows is conducted. It shows that the size of computational domain would affect the simulation result. Empirical formulae for supercavity dimensions about cavitation number at different wedge angles are obtained, which are of significant importance in the subsequent design of three-dimensional blade. The characteristics of resistance at different wedge angles are discussed, which, together with the characteristics of supercavity dimensions, play important roles in the optimal design of RSCE.

摘要：Solar-driven steam generation is a practical strategy to harness solar energy for desalination and production of clean water with a minimized carbon ***,this strategy suffers from a low evaporation rate under weak illumination on cloudy days or at ***,we present a fabric-based all-weather-available photo-electrothermal steam generator(P/ET-SG)capable of regulating the surface temperature and evaporation rate by the coupling effect of photo-thermal and electro-thermal heating depending on the light *** unprecedented high surface temperature of 52℃ in the wet state and an evaporation rate of 2.61 kg m^(-2) h^(-1) were achieved by the P/ET-SG under 1 sun with only 1 V input voltage owing to the uniform heat distribution and the coupled electro-thermal *** oneway fluidic design of the P/ET-SG effectively prevented salt precipitation during continuous desalination in 24 h and was able to remove salt granules from the evaporation ***,the P/ET-SG demonstrated a high evaporation rate of 2.58 kg m^(-2) h^(-1) in the purification of concentrated saline water and dye-contaminated water with high efficiency(>99.9%).This study offers new thoughts for the design of allweather-available solar steam generators with high efficiency and makes a step forward towards fast purification of concentrated saline water and wastewater.

摘要：Topological design of service networks is studied in the paper. Quantitative model and algorithm minimizing cost of processing and delivery is described. Algorithm solving combinatorial problem of optimal design based on binary partitioning, a parametric search and dynamic programming optimization of a binary tree is described and demonstrated in numeric example.
