摘要：An investigation of the properties ofa LiNbO3 photoelastic waveguide via the acceleration-induced effect is presented. A novel three-component hybrid-integrated optical accelerometer based on a Mach-Zehnder interferometer with a LiNbO3 photoelastic waveguide has been designed, which is capable of detecting seismic acceleration in high-accuracy seismic exploration. The Mach-Zehnder interferometer was successfully fabricated and a lighting test used to check its quality. The frequency response characteristic of the accelerometer was measured2 The accelerometer with a resonant frequency of 3549 Hz was demonstrated to show good linear frequency responding characteristics in the range of 100-3000 Hz. The accelerometer also shows good stability and consistency. Experimental results indicate that the outputs of the on- and cross-axis are 147 and 21.3 mV, respectively.

摘要：Fiber Bragg grating （FBG） is a mature sensing technology for the measurement of strain, vibration, acoustics, acceleration, pressure, temperature, moisture, and corrosion. It has gained rapid acceptance in civil, aerospace, chemical and petrochemical, medicine, aviation and automotive industries. The most prominent advantages of FBG are： small size and light weight, distributed array of FBG transducers on a single fiber, and immunity to radio frequency interference. However, a major disadvantage of FBG technology is that conventional state-of-the-art FBG interrogation system is typically bulky, heavy, and costly bench top instruments that are typically assembled from off-the-shelf fiber optic and optical components integrated with a signal electronics board into an instrument console. Based on the industrial need for a compact FBG interrogation system, this paper describes recent progress towards the development of miniature fiber Bragg grating sensor interrogator （FBG-TransceiverTM） system based on multi-channel monolithic integrated optic sensor microchip technology. The integrated optic microchip technology enables monolithic integration of all functionalities, both passive and active, of conventional bench top FBG sensor interrogator system, packaged in a miniaturized, low power operation, 2 cmx5 cm small form factor （SFF） package suitable for long-term structural health monitoring in applications where size, weight, and power are critical for operation.

摘要：The fabrication of Bragg gratings on silicon-on-insulator （SOI） rib waveguides using electron-beam lithography is presented. The grating waveguide is optimally designed for actual photonic integration. Experimental and theoretical evaluations of the Bragg grating are demonstrated. By thinning the SOl device layer and deeply etching the Bragg grating, a large grating coupling coefficient of 30cm^-1 is obtained.

摘要：Triplexers are designed based on SOl flattop arrayed waveguide gratings （AWGs）. Three wavelengths （1310, 1490,and 1550nm） operate at three diffraction orders of AWGs. Simulation shows that the 3dB bandwidth,crosstalk, and loss are 6nm,less than -40dB, and 5dB, respectively. The output optical fields of the device fabricated in our laboratory are clear and show a good triplexing function.

摘要：We present a 1 × 4 Y-branch digital optical switch in which S-bend variable optical attenuators are integrated. The S-bend waveguides, which are always introduced to connect the switch and the standard fiber array, are made use of and designed as variable optical attenuators. A compact device with low crosstalk and larger branching-angle is obtained. The device is fabricated on the thermo-optic polymer materials,and the performance of the device is measured. With an applied driving power of less than 200mW, the device has a low crosstalk of less than - 35dB at a wavelength of 1.55 μm.

摘要：A silicon-based photonic switch is proposed and simulated based on the multimode interference （MMI） principle and the free-carrier plasma dispersion effect in silicon-germanium. The proposed switch, designed for 1.55μm window operation,is useful for DWDM optical networks. The switch consists of two input single-mode ridge waveguide ports,a MMI section, and three output single-mode ridge waveguide ports. In the MMI section, two index-modulation regions are placed to divert input optical signals from the two input ports to each of the three output ports. Switching characteristics are demonstrated theoretically by a beam propagation method for 1.55μm operation. The simulated results show that the insertion loss of the switch is less than 1.43dB, and the crosstalk is between - 18 and - 32.8dB.
