摘要：AIM To evaluate whether implant design, glenoid positioning, and other factors influenced instability and scapular notching in reverse total shoulder *** We retrospectively reviewed records of patients who had undergone reverse total shoulder arthroplasty by the senior author from July 2004 through October 2011 and who had at least 24 mo of follow-up. The 58 patients who met the criteria had 65 arthroplasties: 18 with a Grammont-type prosthesis(Grammont group) and 47 with a lateral-based prosthesis(lateral-design group). We compared the groups by rates of scapular notching and instability and by radiographic markers of glenoid position and tilt. We also compared glenoid sphere sizes and the number of subscapularis tendon repairs between the groups. Rates were compared using the Fisher exact test. Notching severity distribution was compared using the χ2 test of association. Significance was set at P < *** The Grammont group had a higher incidence of scapular notching(13 of 18; 72%) than the lateral-design group(11 of 47; 23%)(P < 0.001) and a higher incidence of instability(3 of 18; 17%) than the lateral-design group(0 of 47; 0%)(P = 0.019). Glenoid position, glenoid sphere size, and subscapularis tendon repair were not predictive of scapular notching or instability, independent of implantdesign. With the lateral-based prosthesis, each degree of inferior tilt of the baseplate was associated with a 7.3% reduction in the odds of developing notching(odds ratio 0.937, 95%CI: 0.894-0.983). CONCLUSION The lateral-based prosthesis was associated with less instability and notching compared with the Grammonttype prosthesis. Prosthesis design appears to be more important than glenoid positioning.

摘要：This paper presents a case study of reverse engineering closely-spaced free-form shapes. The raw point cloud data captured from a body scanner was processed to filter most noise and redundancy. They were used to generate meshes through triangulation of points. Upon removal of inconsistencies resulted from residual noise, the clean-up meshes were then used to reconstruct the free-form surfaces that represented a fabric layer and a human body surface. The solid produced between these two surfaces is the fabric-over-body model. It helped generate a FEA (finite-element analysis) mesh with quality checks, such as distortion and stretch, were performed for all the meshed tetrahedral elements. The purpose is to prepare a FEA-ready model for future CFD (computational fluid dynamics) analysis.

摘要：The improvement of turbocharger components-such as compressor-by means of virtual methods can be done most efficiently if those component’s geometries are given in a parameterized format. It is shown here how the geometric description of turbocharger compressors that have a neutral format (ASCII or STEP/IGES) can be transformed in a parameterized description. This description is then used to perform parameter variations which are validated via simulation methods like CFD. The parameterization of the geometry is therefore a very important step within the workflow of the virtual design of turbocharger components as without it the investigation of different geometries are very time-consuming and expensive.

摘要：The productivity of an organization is very much affected by non-value adding activity like logistics, which moves the resources from suppliers to factory, raw materials/semi-finished items within the factory and finished goods from factory to customers via a designated distribution channel called as forward logistics. In some cases, parts of the products such as automobiles, computers, cameras, mobile phones, washing machines, refrigerators, garments, footwear and empty glass bottles of beverages, etc. will be brought back to the factories as a product recovery strategy through reverse logistics network which is integrated in a sustainable closed loop supply chain network. So, it is highly essential to optimize the movement of the items in the reverse logistics network. This paper gives a comprehensive review of literature of the design of networks for the reverse logistics as well as for the reverse logistics coupled with forward logistics. The contributions of the researchers are classified into nine categories based on the methods used to design the logistics network.

摘要：The alarming water and energy crisis in many regions of the world can be eased by combining renewable energy with desalination technologies. The ADIRA project funded by the EU looked for demonstrating the feasibility of water desalination in areas around the Mediterranean by installing a number of autonomous desalination systems (ADS) which are able to convert brackish or seawater into potable water for the needs of small communities. Within the activities of the ADIRA project a reverse osmosis unit powered by photovoltaic electricity was installed in a village in the northern part of Jordan with a capacity of 0.5 m3/day. The system was composed of a softener, reverse osmosis unit, PV panels (432 Wp) and storage batteries. Residential type “OSMONICS” membrane (TFM-100) was utilized in the RO unit. Field tests were performed on brackish water (1700 mg/L total dissolved solids (TDS)). This paper sheds the light on the process flow diagram, sizing of the system main components and presents some of the results obtained.
