摘要：An integrated optimization design was described using multilevel decomposition technique on the base of the parametric distribution and independent axiom at the stages of lower level. Based on Pareto optimum solution, the detailed parameters at lower level can be defined into the independent axiom. The suspension design was used as the simulation example. In an axiomatic design for the optimization design, the uncoupled and decoupled designs between functional requirements and design parameters are generally needed. But using the design sensitivity(or screening) of design parameters, the approximate uncoupled design is developed on behalf of the decoupled and coupled designs. Successive design parameters were applied to the suspension of torsion beam axle. The structural performance increases by 18%. The kinematic and compliance performance increases by 6% within the feasible ranges.

For attracting people＇s attention to the advertising, merchants should not only rely on novel advertising creativity and also add some sentiment elements in advertising design under the background of today＇s advertising all over the world. Sentiments are the most capable of touching human nerves so as to leave a deep impression in the minds of people, so the quality of advertising can be well improved if appropriate sentiment elements are added in advertising design. In this paper, the application of emotional elements to advertising design is specifically discussed from emotional elements classification, main application methods, and matters needing attention.

摘要：Digital design and manufacturing have been under pinned by digital modeling, simulation, and automation controls for decades. Under the new market requirement of mass customized products and services, the advancements in artificial intelligence （AI）, smart technology, virtual reality （VR）, big data, digital twin, robotics and human-centered design are becoming driving forces for the development of future digital design and manufacturing. This special issue focuses on the future digital design and manufacturing especially under the Industry 4.0 framework and beyond. This editorial introduces the papers in this special issue, which linked to the International Workshop on Digital design and Manufacturing Technologies - Embracing Industry 4.0 and Beyond at Northumbria University in Newcastle, UK, held on 12-13 April 2016. In the Part I of the issue [1], there are 13 papers published in 2016, Vol- ume 29, No 6 of the Chinese Journal of Mechanical engineering （this journal）.

摘要：In this paper, a method to design bird-strike-resistant aircraft structures is presented and illustrated through examples. The focus is on bird strike experiments and simulations. The explicit finite element software PAM-CRASH is employed to conduct bird strike simulations, and a coupled Smooth Particles Hydrodynamic（SPH） and Finite Element（FE） method is used to simulate the interaction between a bird and a target structure. The SPH method is explained, and an SPH bird model is established. Constitutive models for various structural materials, such as aluminum alloys, composite materials, honeycomb, and foam materials that are used in aircraft structures,are presented, and model parameters are identified by conducting various material tests. Good agreements between simulation results and experimental data suggest that the numerical model is capable of predicting the dynamic responses of various aircraft structures under a bird strike,and numerical simulation can be used as a tool to design bird-strike-resistant aircraft structures.

摘要：Use of multidisciplinary analysis in reliabilitybased design optimization(RBDO) results in the emergence of the important method of reliability-based multidisciplinary design optimization(RBMDO). To enhance the efficiency and convergence of the overall solution process,a decoupling algorithm for RBMDO is proposed ***, to decouple the multidisciplinary analysis using the individual disciplinary feasible(IDF) approach, the RBMDO is converted into a conventional form of RBDO. Secondly,the incremental shifting vector(ISV) strategy is adopted to decouple the nested optimization of RBDO into a sequential iteration process composed of design optimization and reliability analysis, thereby improving the efficiency significantly. Finally, the proposed RBMDO method is applied to the design of two actual electronic products: an aerial camera and a car pad. For these two applications, two RBMDO models are created, each containing several finite element models(FEMs) and relatively strong coupling between the involved disciplines. The computational results demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method.

摘要：A fully integrated cross-coupled LC tank voltage-controlled oscillator（LC-VCO） using transformer feedback is proposed to achieve a low phase noise and ultra-low-power design even at a supply below the threshold voltage. The ultra-low-power VCO is implemented in the mixed-signal and RF 1P6M 0.18-μm CMOS technology of SMIC.
