摘要：The problem of designing passive fault-tolerant flight controller is addressed when the normal and faulty cases are prescribed. First of all, the considered fault and fault-free cases are formed by polytopes. As considering that the safety of a post-fault system is directly related to the maximum values of physical variables in the system, peak-to-peak gain is selected to represent the relationships among the amplitudes of actuator outputs, system outputs, and reference commands. Based on the parameter dependent Lyapunov and slack methods, the passive fault-tolerant flight controllers in the absence/presence of system uncertainty for actuator failure cases are designed, respectively. Case studies of an airplane under actuator failures are carried out to validate the effectiveness of the proposed approach

摘要：There seems to be a renewed interest in the last couple decades in studying and writing about consciousness. Consciousness may be the most difficult question humans are trying to resolve. Yet eliciting transcendence, a phenomenon that rises above, or goes beyond, normal limits of consciousness, has been an identified goal for many artists in the past, possibly even in cave art. Drawing on works shown in the 2006 Art Gallery of Hamilton exposition called Sublime Embrace： Experiencing Consciousness in Contemporary Art and in the 2002 Houston Contemporary Art Museum 2002 show called THE INWARD EYE： Transcendence in Contemporary Art, the author will explore the biological, psychological, cultural, and spiritual facets of transcendence. Perhaps, with the renewed symbiotic relationship between the sciences and art, the convergence of digital media, and the emergence of global communication networks, we are at the verge of art that will create a change, an alteration in our consciousness, and an altercendent state. What this change will be is yet a mystery.

摘要：The local design and construction practices in the United Arab Emirates （UAE）, together with Dubai＇s unique rate of development, warrant special attention to the selection of Lateral Force-Resisting Systems （LFRS）. This research proposes four different feasible solutions for the selection of the LFRS for tall buildings and quantifies the impact of these selections on seismic performance and cost. The systems considered are： Steel Special Moment-Resisting Frame （SMRF）, Concrete SMRF, Steel Dual System （SMRF with Special Steel Plates Shear Wall, SPSW）, and Concrete Dual System （SMRF with Special Concrete Shear Wall, SCSW）. The LFRS selection is driven by seismic setup as well as the adopted design and construction practices in Dubai. It is found that the concrete design alternatives are consistently less expensive than their steel counterparts. The steel dual system is expected to have the least damage based on its relatively lesser interstory drifts. However, this preferred performance comes at a higher initial construction cost. Conversely, the steel SMRF system is expected to have the most damage and associated repair cost due to its excessive flexibility. The two concrete alternatives are expected to have relatively moderate damage and repair costs in addition to their lesser initial construction cost.

摘要：In the Canadian north,the cost of space heating is very high due to the harsh weather,its remoteness,lack of transportation,and dependency on the high cost of fossil fuel imported from the *** the North has an abundance of solar energy,significant energy savings with some added construction cost in houses could be achieved by applying high-performance building envelopes and solar design *** objective of this paper is to investigate the potential of both passive and active solar design strategies in improving the energy efficiency of northern ***,a reference house representing a typical single-family home in the North is modeled using EnergyPlus,and the key passive design parameters are optimized to minimize life-cycle ***,the air-based building integrated photovoltaic/thermal(BIPV/T)system is applied to the optimized house and integrated with HVAC *** is found that optimal passive solar design can reduce the heating energy demand by 42%with an incremental cost of 8%for Yellowknife and by 27%without incurring an incremental cost for *** BIPV/T with HVAC systems can reduce the defrost time of heat recovery ventilator(HRV),extend the working hours and improve the COP of air source heat pump(ASHP).The reduction in the total energy consumption is in the range of 1,4%-3.0%by integrating HRV and 0.3%-0.6%by integrating ASHP due to the mis-match of solar availability and heating energy *** maximize the utilization of solar energy available,the optimal use of thermal energy recovered from BIPV/T system in northern housing requires further investigation.

摘要：As a key application of smart grid technologies,the smart distribution network(SDN)is expected to have a high diversity of equipment and complexity of operation *** awareness(SA),which aims to provide a critical visibility of the SDN,will enable a significant assurance for stable SDN ***,the lack of systematic evaluation through the three stages of perception,comprehensive,and prediction may prevent the SA technique from effectively achieving the performance necessary to monitor and respond to events in *** analyze the feasibility and effectiveness of the SA technique for the SDN,a comprehensive evaluation framework with specific performance indicators and systematic weighting methods is proposed in this ***,to implement the indicator framework while addressing the key issues of human expert scoring ambiguity and the lack of data in specific SDN areas,an improved interval-based analytic hierarchy process-based subjective weighting and a multi-objective programming method-based objective weighting are developed to evaluate the SDN SA *** addition,a case study in a real distribution network of Tianjin,China is conducted whose outcomes verify the practicality and effectiveness of the proposed SA technique for SDN operating security.

摘要：iSCORE is a digital tool, available without charge, which was designed for students who take lessons from independent music teachers. One of the challenges of this learning format is that students must develop strategies to practice on their own between lessons, iSCORE can help meet that challenge by supporting students as they develop strategies for self-regulation to enhance their goal-setting, practice strategies, and abilities to reflect and critique their progress. This paper describes a case study of a 15-year-old pianist who learned to play a difficult piece of repertoire by using iSCORE to archive and compare performances, develop strategies, and reflect on his learning.
