摘要：In this paper, the basic equations of beam-wave interaction for designing the 220 GHz folded waveguide （FW） backward wave oscillator （BWO） are described. On the whole, these equations are mainly classified into small signal model （SSM）, large signal model （LSM）, and simplified small signal model （SSSM）. Using these linear and nonlinear one-dimensional （1D） models, the oscillation characteristics of the FW BWO of a given configuration of slow wave struc- ture （SWS） can be calculated by numerical iteration algorithm, which is more time efficient than three-dimensional （3D） particle-in-cell （PIC） simulation. The SSSM expressed by analytical formulas is innovatively derived for determining the initial values of the FW SWS conveniently. The dispersion characteristics of the FW are obtained by equivalent circuit analysis. The space charge effect, the end reflection effect, the lossy wall effect, and the relativistic effect are all considered in our models to offer more accurate results. The design process of the FW BWO tube with output power of watt scale in a frequency range between 215 GHz and 225 GHz based on these 1D models is demonstrated. The 3D PIC method is adopted to verify the theoretical design results, which shows that they are in good agreement with each other.

摘要：A C-band RF pulse compressor is in development at SINAP It comprises of two resonant cavities,two mode convertors and a 3 dB power ***_(0.1.15)mode is selected for obtaining higher quality factor Q_0 of the RF pulse compressor cavities,so that the power gain factor can be 3.2,which is supposed to multiply the RF power from 50 MW to 1 60 *** this paper,we report our work on C-band RF pulse compressor,namely the design simulation and cold test results.

摘要：The laser wire （LW） method has been demonstrated to be an effective non-interceptive technique for measuring transverse profile and emittance of electron beams in colliders, storage rings and dumping rings. In this paper, we present an improved design of high repetition LW system for high average power free electron lasers （HAP FELs） and energy recovery linacs （ERLs）. This improved LW utilizes the excess power of the photocathode drive laser, thus making itself much cheaper and simpler. The system main parameters are optimized with numerical calculations and Monte Carlo simulations, indicating that resolutions would be better than 100 ~m and scanning time less than 1 minute. Status of the experiment preparation is also presented.

摘要：For developing the X-ray Free Electron Lasers test facility(SXFEL) at Shanghai Institute of applied physics,Chinese Academy of Sciences(SINAP), ultra-short bunch is the crucial requirement for excellent lasing performance. It is a big challenge for deflecting cavity to measure the length of ultra-short bunch, and higher deflecting gradient is required for higher measurement resolution. X-band travelling wave deflecting structure has features of higher deflecting voltage and compact structure, which has good performance at ultra-short bunch length measurement. In this paper, a new X-band deflecting structure is designed to operate in HEM11-2π/3 *** suppressing the polarization of deflecting plane of the HEM11 mode, two symmetrical caves are added on the cavity wall to separate two polarized modes.

摘要：We propose an efficient and robust way to design absorbing boundary conditions in atomistic computations. An optimal discrete boundary condition is obtained by minimizing a functional of a reflection coefficient integral over a range of wave numbers. The minimization is performed with respect to a set of wave numbers, at which transparent absorption is reached. Compared with the optimization with respect to the boundary condition coefficients suggested by E and Huang [Phys. Rev. Lett. 87 （2001） 133501], we reduce considerably the number of independent variables and the computing cost. We further demonstrate with numerical examples that both the optimization and the wave absorption are more robust in the proposed design.
