摘要：A novel optimal design of sub-wavelength metal rectangular gratings for the polarizing beam splitter （PBS） is proposed. The method is based on effective medium theory and the method of designing single layer antireflection coating. The polarization performance of PBS is discussed by rigorous couple-wave analysis （RCWA） method at a wavelength of 1550 nm. The result shows that sub-wavelength metal rectangular grating is characterized by a high reflectivity, like metal films for TE polarization, and high transmissivity, like dielectric films for TM polarization. The optimal design accords well with the results simulated by RCWA method.

摘要：In this paper we present a motion compensation (MC) design for the newest Audio Video coding Standard (AVS) of China. Because of compression-efficient techniques of variable block size (VBS) and sub-pixel interpolation, intensive pixel calculation and huge memory access are required. We propose a parallel serial filtering mixed luma interpolation data flow and a three-stage multiplication free chroma interpolation scheme. Compared to the conventional designs, the integrated architecture supports about 2.7 times filtering throughput. The proposed MC design utilizes Vertical Z processing order for reference data re-use and saves up to 30% memory bandwidth. The whole design requires 44.3k gates when synthesized at 108 MHz clock frequency using 0.18-μm CMOS technology and can support up to 1920×1088@30 fps AVS HDTV video decoding.

摘要：This study presents a new method of 4-pipelined high-performance split multiply-accumulator (MAC) architecture, which is capable of supporting multiple precisions developed for media processors. To speed up the design further, a novel partial product compression circuit based on interleaved adders and a modified hybrid partial product reduction tree (PPRT) scheme are proposed. The MAC can perform 1-way 32-bit, 4-way 16-bit signed/unsigned multiply or multiply-accumulate operations and 2-way parallel multiply add (PMADD) operations at a high frequency of 1.25 GHz under worst-case conditions and 1.67 GHz under typical-case conditions, respectively. Compared with the MAC in 32-bit microprocessor without interlocked piped stages (MIPS), the proposed design shows a great advantage in speed. Moreover, an improvement of up to 32% in throughput is achieved. The MAC design has been fabricated with Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC) 90-nm CMOS standard cell technology and has passed a functional test.

摘要：We propose the spectrum allocation and resource scheduling algorithms in cognitive point to multipoint (PMP) networks with rapid changes of spectrum opportunities and present a media access control (MAC) protocol based on these algorithms. The objective of spectrum allocation is to make efficient use of the spectrum while maintaining the transceiver synchronization on frequency and time in the network. The objective of resource scheduling is to guarantee the quality of service (QoS) requirements of different kinds of connections and to minimize the total energy consumption in the network as well. By sensing only a small set of possible channels in each slot based on the state transition probability of each channel, our spectrum allocation algorithm achieves high spectrum efficiency in the network. The resource scheduling problem is divided into three sub problems and we derive optimal solutions to these problems by greedy algorithm and convex optimization. The simulation results show that our algorithm can make efficient use of the spectrum and the network resources at a cost of low computational complexity.

摘要：Floorplan, clock network and power plan are crucial steps in deep sub-micron system-on-chip design. A novel di- agonal floorplan is integrated to enhance the data sharing between different cores in system-on-chip. Custom clock network con- taining hand-adjusted buffers and variable routing rules is constructed to realize balanced synchronization. Effective power plan considering both IR drop and electromigration achieves high utilization and maintains power integrity in our MediaSoC. Using such methods, deep sub-micron design challenges are managed under a fast prototyping methodology, which greatly shortens the design cycle.

摘要：Hyperspectral remote sensing is becoming more and more important amongst remote sensing techniques. In this paper, we present a hyperspectral database（Hyper DB） designed to cooperate with an embedded hyperspectral image processing system developed by the authors. Hyperspectral data are recognized and categorized by their land coverage class and band information, and can be imported from various sources such as airborne and spaceborne sensors carried by airplanes or satellites, as well as handhold instruments based on in situ ground observations. Spectral library files can be easily stored, indexed, viewed, and exported. Since Hyper DB follows standard design principles—independence, data safety, and compatibility—it satisfies the practical demand for managing categorized hyperspectral data, and can be readily expanded to other peripheral applications.

摘要：This paper presents a macroblock-level (MB-level) decoding and deblocking method for supporting the flexible macroblock ordering (FMO) and arbitrary slice ordering (ASO) bit streams in H.264 decoder and its SOC/ASIC implementation. By searching the slice containing the current macroblock in the bit stream and switching slices correctly, MBs can be decoded in the raster scan order, while the decoding process can immediately begin as long as the slice containing the current MB is available. This architectural modification enables the MB-level decoding and deblocking 3-stage pipeline, and saves about 20% of SDRAM bandwidth. Implementation results showed that the design achieves real-time decoding of 1080HD (1920×1088@30 fps) at a system clock of 166 MHz.
