摘要：Global illumination is the core part of photo-realistic rendering. The photon mapping algorithm is an effective method for computing global illumination with its obvious advantage of caustic and color bleeding rendering. It is an active research field that has been developed over the past two decades. The deficiency of precise details and efficient rendering are still the main challenges of photon mapping. This report reviews recent work and classifies it into a set of categories including radiance estimation, photon relaxation, photon tracing, progressive photon mapping, and parallel methods. The goals of our report are giving readers an overall introduction to photon mapping and motivating further research to address the limitations of existing methods.

摘要：Nature is an information sourcebook of behaviour, function, colour and shape which can inspire visual design and invention. Studying the form and functional characteristics of a natural object can provide inspiration for product design and help to improve the marketability of manufactured products. The inspiration can be triggered either by direct observation or captured by three-dimensional （3D） digitising techniques to obtain superficial information （geometry and colour）. An art designer often creates a concept in the form of a two-dimensional （2D） sketch while engineering methods lead to a point cloud in 3D. Each has its limitations in that the art designer commonly lacks the knowledge to build a final product from a 2D sketch and the engi- neering designer＇s 3D point clouds may not be very beautiful. We propose a method for Product Design from Nature （PDN）, coupling aesthetic intent and geometrical characteristics, exploring the interactions between designers and nature＇s systems in PDN. We believe that this approach would considerably reduce the lead time and cost of product design from nature.

摘要：Mobile device research has been increasing rapidly in Human Computer Interaction （HCI） recently. Following this trend, this paper proposes a user-centered interface, which has been designed, completely installed and independently run on a mobile phone. Video signal is steamed through its camera as the image input to the interface by employing techniques of image processing, computer vision and graphics to identify automatically absolute positions of human face, neck and two hands. A paradigm is also put up theoretically. And it embeds this interface to perceive the human postures and convert them into relaxed comic character according to its context.

摘要：Design and implementation of a personal computer (PC) based measurement circuits & system that containing signals’ sensing and generation are demonstrated in this study. The instrument can be easily operated via a user-friendly interface consisted of some functional keys displayed on the PC screen. Compact design of the hardware for the two units (signals’ sensing and generation) is made in a plug-in style of PC input/output (I/O) card so that no extra space for the instrument is needed. Design concepts for the hardware and software of the instrument are described. Functional performances of the setup of signals’ sensing and generation are tested. The results show user-friendly function and well-behaved performance for the package design.

摘要：In this paper we present a novel image decomposition method via credible data fitting with local total variation filter. The oscillation rate is used to measure the image complexity and characteristics. The filter parameter can be determined by a fitting curve which is reconstructed by oscillation rate. In addition, the approximate Gaussian algorithm and integral image are used to reduce the algorithm computation and the sensitivity of the filter window selection. Experiments show the new method is better than the exist- ing methods.

摘要：In the engineering database system, multiple versions of a design including engineering drawings should be managed efficiently. The paper proposes an efficient spatial data structure, that is an expansion of the R tree and HR tree, for version management of engineering drawings. A novel mechanism to manage the difference between drawings is introduced to the HR tree to eliminate redundant duplications and to reduce the amount of storage required for the data structure. Data management mechanism and structural properties of our data structure called the MVR + tree are described.
