摘要：Despite the fact that BRIC Bank was instituted to enhance the core competitiveness of developing countries, opponents concern it would undermine the status of the World Bank and incurred negative impact. However, as China is one of initiated countries of the BRIC nations, domestic mainstream media witnessed widespread coverage to justify Bank＇s roles. Therefore, this paper, based on Halliday＇s Meta-language Function theory, intends to explore the significance of BRIC Banks from the perspective of domestic mainstream media. Meanwhile, the thesis, combining with corpus research tools and VRIN standard theory （namely Valuable, Rare, Imperfectly, Imitable, Non-Substitutable）, probes into image construction and interprets roles of BRIC Bank in mainstream reports.

摘要：Mainly applying Michel Foucault’s idea about spacial discipline plus gender studies,in particular,of the correlation between gender and space as well as the power hierarchy in the distribution of space,this paper analyzes the female protagonist Miss Amelia in Carson McCullers’s The Ballad of the Sad Café.This paper argues that Amelia utilizes space as a means of self-empowerment,challenging the conventional gender dichotomy sanctioned by patriarchal ***,her spacial transgression is seen as a deconstruction of gender conventionality and causes masculine crisis as embodied by the male characters Marvin Macy and Cousin *** spacial discipline is collaboratively exerted by Macy and Lymon on Amelia to“correct”her transgression,Amelia finally concedes defeat and submits to patriarchal gender norms.

摘要：Focusing on African American novelist Gloria Naylor’s fiction Mama Day, this article intends to analyze Mama Day and George’s distinctive relationships with maternal spaces, particularly based on French philosopher Luce Irigaray’s philosophy concerning maternal spaces and a feminine way of communication. It is to argue that the two characters’ different ways of communicating with the maternal spaces result in their different endings in the narrative, as well as their different degrees of healing, either healing their own wounded relationships with their mothers or healing the disconnection between men and women. This finding unravels Naylor’s implicit ethical and philosophical messages in writing George’s mystic and tragic death. In addition, by engaging Mama Day in active and feminine communication with maternal spaces, Naylor successfully re-establishes “the missing pillar” of the female ancestry that Irigaray observes on Western civilization, thus offering a possibility for a woman to construct her female subjectivity with reference to her maternal origin.
