摘要：Anthocyanins have high antioxidant activities, and engineering of anthocyanin biosynthesis in staple crops, such as rice （Oryza sativa L.）, could provide health-promoting foods for improving human health. However, engineering metabolic pathways for biofortification remains difficult, and previous attempts to engineer anthocyanin production in rice endosperm failed because of the sophisticated genetic regulatory network of its biosynthetic pathway. In this study, we developed a high-efficiency vector system for transgene stacking and used it to engineer anthocyanin biosynthesis in rice endosperm. We made a construct containing eight anthocyanin-related genes （two regulatory genes from maize and six structural genes from Coleus） driven by the endosperm-specific promoters,plus a selectable marker and a gene for marker excision. Transformation of rice with this construct generated a novel biofortified germplasm ＂Purple Endosperm Rice＂ （called ＂Zijingmi＂ in Chinese）, which has high anthocyanin contents and antioxidant activity in the endosperm. This anthocyanin production results from expression of the transgenes and the resulting activation （or enhancement） of expression of 13 endogenous anthocyanin biosynthesis genes that are silenced or expressed at low levels in wild-type rice endosperm. This study provides an efficient, versatile toolkit for transgene stacking and demonstrates its use for successful engineering of a sophisticated biological pathway, suggesting the potential utility of this toolkit for synthetic biology and improvement of agronomic traits in plants.

摘要：The South China Sea (SCS) is characterized by abundant seamounts, which provide important information about the evolution of the SCS and related deep processes. Cenozoic volcanism in the SCS and its surroundings comprises three stages relative to the spreading of the SCS:prespreading (>32 Ma), syn-spreading (32-16 Ma), and post-spreading (<16 Ma). The pre-spreading magmatism predominantly occurs on the northern margin of the SCS and in South China coastal areas and shows a bi-modal affinity. The syn-spreading magmatic activity was very limited on the periphery of the SCS, but may be concentrated in the SCS. However, seafloor samples of this stage are not available yet because of overlying thick sedimentary deposits. Post-spreading magmatism is widespread in the central and southwest sub-basins of the SCS, Hainan Island, Leizhou Peninsula, Thailand, and Vietnam. These are mainly alkali basalts with subordinate tholeiites, and display OIB-type geochemical characteristics. The Dupal isotope anomaly and presence of high-magnesian olivine phenocrysts suggests their possible derivation from the Hainan mantle plume. The temporal and spatial distribution of Cenozoic volcanism in the SCS and its surroundings may be accounted for either by plate stress re-organization before and after SCS spreading, or by ridge suction of plume flow during opening of the SCS. If the latter is the case, the volcanic rocks within the SCS basin may not be typical mid-ocean ridge basalts (MORB). It remains puz-zling, however, that the transition between the South China continental margin and the SCS basin does not have features typical of a volcanic rifted margin. Clearly, the relationship between mantle plume and SCS opening needs further evaluation. A better un-derstanding of the link between deep processes and opening of the SCS not only requires enhanced studies on igneous petrogene-sis, but also is heavily dependent on systematic sampling of seafloor rocks.

摘要：This paper presents an anthropomorphic prosthetic hand using flexure hinges, which is controlled by the surface electromyography （sEMG） signals from 2 electrodes only. The prosthetic hand has compact structure with 5 fingers and 4 Degree of Freedoms （DoFs） driven by 4 independent actuators. Helical springs are used as elastic joints and the joints of each finger are coupled by tendons. The myoelectric control system which can classify 8 prehensile hand gestures is built. Pattern recognition is employed where Mean Absolute Value （MAV）, Variance （VAR）, the fourth-order Autoregressive （AR） coefficient and Sample Entropy （SE） are chosen as the optimal feature set and Linear Discriminant Analysis （LDA） is utilized to reduce the dimension. A decision of hand gestures is generated by LDA classifier after the current projected feature set and the previous one are ＂pre-smoothed＂, and then the final decision is obtained when the current decision and previous decisions are ＂post-smoothed＂ from the decisions flow. The prosthetic hand can perform prehensile postures for activities of daily living and carry objects under the control of EMG signals.

摘要：XML data can be represented by a tree or graph and the query processing for XML data requires the structural information among nodes. Designing an efficient labeling scheme for the nodes of Order-Sensitive XML trees is one of the important methods to obtain the excellent management of XML data. Previous labeling schemes such as region and prefix often sacrifice updating performance and suffer increasing labeling space when inserting new nodes. To overcome these limitations, in this paper we propose a new labeling idea of separating structure from order. According to the proposed idea, a novel Prime-based Middle Fraction Labeling Scheme(PMFLS) is designed accordingly, in which a series of algorithms are proposed to obtain the structural relationships among nodes and to support updates. PMFLS combines the advantages of both prefix and region schemes in which the structural information and sequential information are separately expressed. PMFLS also supports Order-Sensitive updates without relabeling or recalculation, and its labeling space is stable. Experiments and analysis on several benchmarks are conducted and the results show that PMFLS is efficient in handling updates and also significantly improves the performance of the query processing with good scalability.
