摘要：This paper shows the usefulness of discrete differential geometry in global analysis. Using the discrete differential geometry of triangles, we could consider the global structure of closed trajectories (of triangles) on a triangular mesh consisting of congruent isosceles triangles. As an example, we perform global analysis of an Escher-style trick art, i.e., a simpler version of “Ascending and Descending”. After defining the local structure on the trick art, we analyze its global structure and attribute its paradox to a singular point (i.e., a singular triangle) at the center. Then, the endless “Penrose stairs” is described as a closed trajectory around the isolated singular point. The approach fits well with graphical projection and gives a simple and intuitive example of the interaction between global and local structures. We could deal with higher dimensional objects as well by considering n-simplices (n > 2) instead of triangles.

摘要：An approach based on reinfocement learning for the automated segmentation is presented. The approach consists of two modules:segmentation module and learning module. The segmentation module uses the region-growing algorithm combined with the smooth filtering and the morphological filtering to segment mammograms. The learning module uses the segmentation output as the feedback to learn to select the optimal parameter settings of the segmentation algorithm according to the image properties using reinforcement learning techniques. The approach can adapt itself to various kinds of mammograms through training and therefore obviates the tedious and error-prone tuning of parameter settings manually. Quantitative test results show that the approach is accurate for several kinds of mammograms. Compared to previously proposed approaches,the approach is more adaptable to different mammograms.

摘要：Machine learning (ML) has been widely used todesign and develop new materials owing to its low computational cost and powerful predictive capabilities. In recentyears, the shortcomings of ML in materials science have gradually emerged, with a primary concern being the scarcity ofdata. It is challenging to build reliable and accurate ML modelsusing limited data. Moreover, the small sample size problemwill remain long-standing in materials science because of theslow accumulation of material data. Therefore, it is importantto review and categorize strategies for small-sample learningfor the development of ML in materials science. This reviewsystematically sorts the research progress of small-samplelearning strategies in materials science, including ensemblelearning, unsupervised learning, active learning, and transferlearning. The directions for future research are proposed, including few-shot learning, and virtual sample *** importantly, we emphasize the significance of embedding material domain knowledge into ML and elaborate on thebasic idea for implementing this strategy.

摘要：The long-term adjustment processes of atmosphere and ocean in response to gradually increased atmospheric CO2 concentration have been analyzed in 70 and 140 a integrations with NCAR fully-coupled climate system model (CSM). In these experiments the CO2 concentration has been increased to double and quadruples the initial concentration, respectively. After 70 a, at the time of CO2 doubling, the model predicts surface air temperature rises by 1.2 and 1.5 K for the globe and the northwestern Pacific Ocean, respectively. The behavior of the quadrupling run is similar: each global and regional mean surface air temperatures increase by 2.8 and 3.0 K at the time of CO2 quadrupling. From the experiments, surface air temperature changes in the northwestern Pacific Ocean will be more distinctive compared with the global average, mainly due to exceptionally large wanning and sea level change near the entrance of the Kuroshio extension.

摘要：In the field of Second Language Acquisition （SLA）, motivation has played a crucial role for language learning and teaching. Just as motivation is important in SLA, demotivation constitutes an important factor for both students and teachers. In our previous study, investigating 97 teachers for demotivational factors, the teachers felt demotivated to see students＇ lack of interest and bad attitudes, as well as dissatisfaction with curriculum, teaching material and poor facilities. We concluded further investigation was necessary as to how teachers regain motivation and hopefully toward directed motivational current （DMC）, which not only provides a direction for action, but it also energizes action （D6myei et al, 2016）. In our present study, compared to our previous study which was analyzed quantitatively, we have collected qualitative data from some 34 college teachers investigating when they felt demotivated, what they did to cope with it, and how they regained their motivation. Data was collected, analyzed qualitatively, and factors which may lead to DMC was extracted. It is hoped that this study will be beneficial for facilitating better SLA learning and teaching, and also for teacher training.

摘要：The high phase content of inorganic dielectric fillings will give a strong electric driving force and hard matrix. That is a contradiction in enhancing the electrodeformation of dielectric elastomers(DEs). Therefore, in this paper, by focusing on how to approach a balance between these and finding an effective way to tune the electric response of the DEs, the theoretical calculation and experimental investigation based on calcium copper titanate(CCTO)/poly(dimethyl siloxane)(PDMS) were carried out. It is found that CCTO with a smaller particle size shows a larger dielectric parameter. With smaller CCTO particle as the fillings, the fabricated elastomer composite would approach to a low modulus by a proper CCTO phase morphology in the matrix.

摘要：β-Lapachone (β-Lap) is a promising orthonaphthoquinone drug for cancer treatment and has been inclinical trials. Its application is constrained by the low aqueoussolubility, and severe side effects. Even prodrug designation isan effective approach to render it with tumor selectivity, it islimited by the lack of modifiable groups on β-Lap. Herein, anovel azo bond primary cleavage and carbon–carbon (C–C)bond secondary cleavage-based polymeric β-Lap prodrug(Azo-Lap NP) is designed, in which the self-immolated paraaminobenzyl linker is connected to poly(L-glutamic acid)(PGlu) via azo linkage and the responsive drug release of β-Lapagainst tumors can be achieved under high NAD(P)H:quinoneoxidoreductase 1 (NQO1) expression and low pH environmentin tumors. The effective covalent loading of β-Lap by Azo-LapNPs permitted a high administration dose of β-Lap and enabled significant tumor retention time. Moreover, Azo-LapNPs markedly reduced the side effects of β-Lap by avoidinghemolysis and the production of methemoglobin. The safety ofAzo-Lap NPs administration is validated in the antitumorexperiment of mice. In the 4T1 model, Azo-Lap NPs exhibiteda markedly higher tumor suppression rate than β-Lap. Thiswork provides an effective and safe polymeric prodrug fortumor selective delivery of β-Lap.

摘要：NAREGI is a 5-year japanese National Grid Project during 2003--2007, whose chief aim is to develop a set of grid middleware to serve as a basis for future e-Science. NAREGI also aims to lead the way in standardization of grid middleware, based on the OGSA architecture. Its super-scheduler is based on the proposed OGSA-EMS Architecture, in that it becomes the first working implementation that implements the documented component relationships within the OGSA-EMS architecture document v.l.0. Through the efforts and experience in the design and implementation, it has been confirmed that the documented OGSA-EMS architecture is quite feasible, but will require significant amount of refinement and speed improvements to finalize its detailed specifications. The super-scheduler also supports co-allocation across multiple sites to support automated execution of grid-based MPIs that execute across machines. Such a resource allocation requires sophisticated interactions between the OGSA-EMS components not covered in the current OGSA-EMS architecture, some of which are non-trivial. Overall, job scheduling with OGSA-EMS has proven to not only work, but also that its job allocation and execution time is within reasonable bounds.
