摘要：In this paper, we present a general model for Arabic bank check processing indicating the major phases of a check processing system. We then survey the available databases for Arabic bank check processing research. The state of the art in the different phases of Arabic bank check processing is surveyed （i.e., pre-processing, check analysis and segmentation, features extraction, and legal and courtesy amounts recognition）. The open issues for future research are stated and areas that need improvements are presented. To the best of our knowledge, it is the first survey of Arabic bank check processing.

摘要：The motivation of this work is to obtain single PI/PID tuning formula for different types of processes with enhanced disturbance rejection performance. The proposed tuning formula consistently gives better performance in comparison to several well-known methods at the same degree of robustness for stable, integrating and unstable processes. For the selection of the closed-loop time constant(τc), a guideline is provided over a broad range of time-delay/time-constant ratios on the basis of the peak of maximum sensitivity(Ms). An analysis has been performed for the uncertainty margin with the different process parameters for the robust controller design. It gives the guideline of the Ms-value settings for the PI controller designs based on the process parameters uncertainty. Furthermore, a relationship has been developed between Ms-value and uncertainty margin with the different process parameters(k, τ and θ). Simulation study has been conducted for the broad class of processes and the controllers are tuned to have the same degree of robustness by measuring the maximum sensitivity, Ms, in order to obtain a reasonable comparison.

The heart of the model is a theorem that derives the expected total cost and the expected cycle length. In this paper an alternative simple proof for the theorem is provided based on mathematical induction.

摘要：The day/night (diurnal) changes in temperature and solar radiation pose challenges for maintaining human thermal comfort in buildings. Passive and energy-conserving buildings seek to manage the available thermal energy by lowering peaks and dampening the fluctuations in order to maintain conditions for human comfort. Appropriate use of thermal mass moderates the internal temperatures by averaging diurnal extremes. Thermal mass is one of the powerful tools which architects and designers can use to control temperature. It can be used to optimize the performance of energy-conserving buildings that rely primarily on mechanical heating and cooling strategies. Massive building envelopes-such as masonry, concrete, earth, and insulating concrete forms (ICFs) can be utilized as one of the simplest ways of reducing building heating and cooling loads. This article analyses the role and effectiveness of thermal mass as a strategy for providing indoor thermal comfort for passive solar and energy conserving buildings.

摘要：针对裂缝型储层的不同裂缝类型,分别设计和进行了5种裂缝贯穿程度和4种裂缝充填模式的致密岩心渗透率应力敏感性实验,并分析了各种裂缝贯穿程度和裂缝充填模式的岩心渗透率应力敏感性差异。结合一维产能解析模型,分析了裂缝贯穿程度和裂缝充填模式对裂缝型油藏产油量的影响。研究结果表明:裂缝贯穿程度较小时,岩心渗透率应力敏感性主要体现为基质压缩,而随着裂缝贯穿程度增大,岩石应力敏感过程主要包括裂缝闭合和基质压缩2个阶段;岩心流量并不一定随着实验压差增大而简单增大,而是生产压差和岩心渗透率的综合函数。

摘要：Standard costing is used as a control for product costing. But with life cycle becoming shorter, costing should be done at the design and development stage of a product. This is achieved through target costing. The implementation of target costing and target pricing is done with the ultimate purpose of cost reduction, cost understanding, continuous improvement, competitiveness, early purchasing and supplier involvement, and improved design and accountability by manufacturers. The study explores the participation of the purchasing and supply chain management"s role in target costing and target pricing process. Supply management plays an active role in monitoring the ongoing cost and performance of suppliers during the early stages of product development. Implementation of target costing and target pricing in various organizations are also explored. Leading Japanese manufacturers have used target costing and target pricing systems to their advantage and the paper also examines the adaptation of the Western companies to these proactive cost management techniques to improve their product development processes.
