摘要：A method to design a birefringent plate （BP） for broadening spectrum in a regenerative amplifier is presented. Using this method, we design a quartz BP with thickness of 761μm inserted into a Ti：sapphire regenerative amplifier. The gain narrowing effect is reduced efficiently, and the experimental results agree with the calculation well. The bandwidth is broadened from 28 to 62 nm using the designed quartz BP and the pulses are compressed to ～23 fs.

摘要：Design and preparation of frequency doubling antireflection coating with different thicknesses of interlayer were investigated for LIB3O5 （LBO） substrate. The design was based on the vector method. The thickness of the inserted SiO2 interlayer could be changed in a wide range for the four-layer design with two zeros at 1064 and 532 nm. The coatings without any interlayer and with 0.1 quarter-wave （λ/4）, 0.3 λ/4, 0.5 λ/4 SiO2 interlayer were deposited respectively on LBO by using electron beam evaporation technique. All the prepared coatings with SiO2 interlayer indicated satisfying optical behavior. This expanded our option for the thickness of an interlayer when coating on LBO substrate. The prepared films with SiO2 interlayer showed better adhesion than that without any interlayer. The thickness of the interlayer affected the adhesion, the adhesion for the coating with 0.5 λ/4 SiO2 interlayer was not as good as the other two.

摘要：We investigate a planar ion chip design with a two-dimensional array of linear ion traps for scalable quantum information processing. Qubits are formed from the internal electronic states of trapped ^40Ca^＋ ions. The segmented electrodes reside in a single plane on a substrate and a grounded metal plate separately, a combination of appropriate rf and DC potentials is applied to them for stable ion confinement. Every two adjacent electrodes can generate a linear ion trap in and between the electrodes above the chip at a distance dependent on the geometrical scale and other considerations. The potential distributions are calculated by using a static electric field qualitatively. This architecture provides a conceptually simple avenue to achieving the microfabrication and large-scale quantum computation based on the arrays of trapped ions.

摘要：The reflection and transmittance of s- and p-polarized lights should be treated separately at nonzero angle incidence. By choosing two special film materials whose refractive indices meet the Brewster condition in a given incident angle, the reflection of p-polarized light can be eliminated. When the two materials are fabricated into multilayer stacks, the reflection of s-polarized light can be largely increased while the reflection of p-polarized light keeps low. According to this principle, a film polarizer with bandwidth of 198 nm or even more is designed.

摘要：In this letter, a guided-mode resonance （GMR） filter with the same material for both the grating layer and the waveguide layer is designed, and its optical properties are investigated. The GMR filter owns almost 100% reflection at the resonance wavelength of 800 nm with the full-width at half-maximum （FWHM） of 20 nm, and its sideband reflection from 700 to 1000 nm is less than 5%. As the resonance wavelength is influenced by more than one parameter during the fabrication process, GMR filter with the same resonance wavelength can be obtained by adjusting other parameters or even one parameter to deviate from the design value.

摘要：There are two different effects to generate group effect and Gires-Tournois effect. Both effects are delay dispersion by multilayer thin film mirrors： chirper employed to introduce desired dispersion in the designed mirror. Thus the designed mirror provides large dispersion throughout broad waveband. Such mirror can be used for dispersion compensation in Ti：sapphire femtosecond lasers. Most group delay dispersion of a 5-mm Ti：sapphire crystal can be compensated perfectly with only four bounces of the designed mirror.

摘要：In this paper,2×2 characteristic matrices of uniaxially anisotropic thin film for extraordinary and ordinary wave are deduced at oblique ***,the reflectance and transmittance of thin films are calculated separately for two polarizations,which provide a new concept for designing non-polarizing thin films at oblique ***,using the multilayer birefringent thin films,non-polarizing designs,such as beam splitter thin film at single wavelength,edge filter and antireflection thin film over visible spectral region are obtained at oblique incidence.

摘要：Two problems of half-wave hole and high ripples in the transmittance region for a harmonic beam splitter had been pointed out and analyzed. Based on the application of a half-wavelength control and a new admittance matching methods, a harmonic beam splitter was designed and fabricated. The former method eliminated the half-wave hole fundamentally, and the latter smoothed high ripples in the transmittance region effectively. The matching stack consisted of a symmetrically periodic structure and provided a complete matching at the desired wavelength, i.e., both conditions for the equivalent admittance and phase thickness were fulfilled. Furthermore, both the theoretical and the tested curves had been given, and a good agreement between them was obtained.

摘要：An internal Brewster guided-mode resonance （GMR） filter is designed. For this kind of GMR filter, the Brewster reflection occurs at the interface of grating/waveguide layers rather than at the interface of air/grating layers. At Brewster angle of 60~, the GMR filter owns almost 100% reflection at the resonance wavelength of 800 nm with the full-width at half-maximum （FWHM） of 0.2 nm. Its angle response changing with the fabrication deviation is also discussed.
