摘要：This study compares the ability of different robust regression estimators to detect and classify outliers. Well-known estimators with high breakdown points were compared using simulated data. Mean success rates (MSR) were computed and used as comparison criteria. The results showed that the least median of squares (LMS) and least trimmed squares (LTS) were the most successful methods for data that included leverage points, masking and swamping effects or critical and concentrated outliers. We recommend using LMS and LTS as diagnostic tools to classify outliers, because they remain robust even when applied to models that are heavily contaminated or that have a complicated structure of outliers.

摘要：We determined the seismic model of the soil column within a residential project site in Istanbul, Turkey. Specifically, we conducted a refraction seismic survey at 20 locations using a receiver spread with 484.5-Hz vertical geophones at 2-m intervals. We applied nonlinear tomography to first-arrival times to estimate the P-wave velocity-depth profiles and performed Rayleigh-wave inversion to estimate the S-wave velocity-depth profiles down to a depth of 30 m at each of the locations. We then combined the seismic velocities with the geotechnical borehole information regarding the lithology of the soil column and determined the site-specific geotechnical earthquake engineering parameters for the site. Specifically, we computed the maximum soil amplification ratio, maximum surface-bedrock acceleration ratio, depth interval of significant acceleration, maximum soil-rock response ratio, and design spectrum periods TA-TB. We conducted reflection seismic surveys along five line traverses with lengths between 150 and 300 m and delineated landslide failure surfaces within the site. We recorded shot gathers at 2-m intervals along each of the seismic line traverses using a receiver spread with 4 840-Hz vertical geophones at 2-m intervals. We applied nonlinear tomography to first-arrival times to estimate a P-wave velocity-depth model and analyzed the reflected waves to obtain a seismic image of the deep near-surface along each of the line traverses.

摘要：The main aim of this paper is to investigate energy consumptions, CO2 emissions and costs during the production and life cycle of structural materials. The virgin and recycled metals as well as waste minerals such as fly ash, slag in concrete save energy consumption, CO2 emissions and costs. The importance and effectiveness of recycled materials will be statistically evaluated via energy consumption, carbon footprint, ultimate strength and their ratios. Embodied energy to ultimate strength or embodied carbon to ultimate strength ratios may emphasize the effectiveness of a sustainable material. The analyses in this study indicate the utilization of the recycled steel and C50 concrete with 50% fly ash or slag is the most efficient way of using sustainable materials.

摘要：As a consequence of developing technology, various medical developments and environmental factors, the population of elderly people has been rising. Future predictions show a rising trend for designing for the elderly and. In order for seniors to be able to appear in community life, to be self-sufficient and live their lives independently, supportive environments are required. Being able to sustain seniors＇ lives has to be seen as a civic right and architectural design should be considered as a tool to get these rights. As linked to everyday living, homes should be a starting point to get these rights. Being in the core of everyday activities, the spaces in dwellings should meet life-span design criteria. Fundamental principles lying under the aspects of design, dimensions, details, colors and symbols of supportive environments should not be affected from generation gap and senium and should rather aim at this user group. These fundamentals can briefly be listed as, change as less as possible, design for self-sufficiency, communication and socialization. In the paper, the focus is on these fundamental design principles for residential spaces, together with the research of reflections of factors, affecting health, security and mobility deriving from mobility disabilities, perception and memory weakening, specifically to bathroom design.

摘要：Optimisation of effective design parameters to reduce tooth bending stress for an automotive transmission gearbox is presented. A systematic investigation of effective design parameters for optimum design of a five-speed gearbox is studied. For this aim contact ratio effect on tooth bending stress by the changing of contact ratio with respect to pressure angle is analysed. Additionally, profile modification effects on tooth bending stress are presented. During the optimisation, the tooth bending stress is considered as the objective function, and all the geometric design parameters such as module, teeth number etc. are optimised under two different constraints, including tooth contact stress and constant gear centre distance. It can be concluded that higher the contact ratio results in a reduced tooth bending stress, while higher the pressure angle caused an increase in tooth bending stress and contact stress, since decreases in the contact ratio. In addition, application of positive profile modification on tooth reduces tooth bending stress. All of the obtained optimum solutions satisfy all constraints.
